WHAT!? And only $16.95? Must be one of the finest electric kazoos a guy could ever want. Someone please tell me that you own one of these and can tell me all about how great it is.

Just when I thought Kazoo playing couldn't get any more hip...

I wonder if kazoo players get upset when people don't take them seriously as musicians, and ask them if they play any other instrument?

This is badass. I want to hear how it plays. I think someone needs to do a YouTube series on these. Lessons.

Lester, aren't a kazoo and a harmonica basically the same instrument? ;-)

Ha! Glad to see that there are a few who share my enthusiasm about this. :)

By the way... I would like to encourage someone to record an album that features amplified harmonica, and title said album The Electric Kazoo.

Pedals questions:
Should I get a guitar-based multi-effects pedal or wait for the kazoo-specific line of pedals? And which pedals will make it sound most like an organ?
(I think an alnico speaker will add too much more cellophane-like raspiness -- I'm going ceramic magnet.)

I am heading to the bench right now to start my own line of boutique kazoo amps. Of course, all components and tubes will be NOS and the output transformer will be oversized. I've found a 2x6 cab best for really projecting those raspy mid tones. I'll keep everyone posted.

I bought an electric kazoo some time back. Can't tell that it sounds any different from just humming through a bullet mic. Wanna buy it?

I think you need to use a Kalakazoo amp with this!

That looks cool. This thread should go in the musicians jokes thread. Some of your responses are funny.

Srs question: anyone know where I can get custom brass nozzles for this?

Real question: are there techniques for kazoo, or is it just a single tone?

The problem with a slide whistle, particularly if you don't have perfect pitch, is that it's hard to get the slide to exactly where it needs to be. The most obvious solution would be to either make the chamber transparent and marked (okay, that's way easier than my idea) or... magnets!!! Put one magnet on the slide, and one magnet attached where each note should be. As you slide the slide past each position you'll feel it 'locking' into place. It wouldn't take much tinkering to figure out how strong the magnets would need to be to give you a strong sense of where you needed to be without making it tough to slide. Since slide whistles are chromatic if you made it out of higher grade materials I bet you could convince someone to pay harmonica type prices for one (instead of the $5 you get them for at music stores). One strong advantage of the magnetic version over the clear version is the clear versions insides will probably start looking pretty nasty. My slide whistle is glued together, not screwed, so who knows what lurks inside. (Of course, you could have a clear one with magnets... thing about it... you are up on stage, spotlights on you... you tilt your head up as you play so the spotlight shines through it's clear frame. The little embedded LEDs (like the lightning bug harmonica) shine down the length, and the plunger shortens and lengthens the light. The crowd thunders. People start throwing their underwear on stage. Magnets. :}

Nacoran, I will probably never be able to afford one of your high-end "Magna-Tune" slide whistles, but I will happily be in the front row of your debut chromatic slide whistle performance. Let us know so we can mark our calenders!

When I finally save up the scratch to spring for an electric kazoo, would someone be willing to gap the piece of cellophane for me? You know how I like it. Tight enough to respond to the lightest breath pressure, but not so tight that it jams up when I'm really wailing. Man I hate that...
