I've been playing around with the Huang Silvertone cover a bit more. I've got to say it's is the most comfortable cover I've ever held. It's got a fin on back like a standard harp, which gives you a bit more control of the harp, but it's a long cover, so no sharp edges. Something feels particularly smooth about the finish too.

Be careful with the finish. I know a lot of old covers were nickel with a finish on them. Don't risk messing with nickel. It's got a lot of great qualities, but enough people have allergies that it's not worth it. Whatever the plastic they use on the Turbolids is really good. It's not ABS, it's a higher grade and it feels great on the lips and doesn't seem to scratch. (Even cheap Piedmonts feel great on the lips; the Turbolids don't deaden the sound like the Piedmont covers though).

Michelle, it's interesting, I was going to disagree with you about the Turbolids airtightness- the construction seems really airtight, but then you mentioned your embouchure coming into play, I'd would note that, especially the thick end can be a bit of a mouthful. I'd say thinner is better as long as you don't get reed rattle.

Another thing I don't think anyone has mentioned is accessory compatibility. Turbolids won't fit in a normal harp case slot, and if you don't have some steel in it it won't work with a Harp Lock harmonica holder. Neither of those would be deal breakers, especially if you had a work around ready (like having the measurements available so people could get foam cut for their harp cases or a clip that would fasten to the harp to make it magnetic for Harp Lock users.)
