I live just a few hours from where Frank lives here in PA. Right now his garden is likely covered in snow & ice. We just had a ice storm pass through our state. More to come tonight. No end in sight. Talk about the cabin fever blues. The lad does sound good though.
As for his where about, I believe he's still on probation here. Got a little too spunky several months back. We do miss him though huh? ----------
Frank is great! His playing IMO is superb to most "pro's" I have heard. His sense of humor is great too. MBH has been pretty dull and unoriginal since his probation.
I wanted to put Frank into the 'should be famous' thread but went with someone I shook hands with. Hard work is not always rewarded but excellent entertainment should always be embraced.
His online posting skills went a little over the top, though. He received a one year suspension for violating the forum rules as I understand it. ---------- The Iceman
Like all great artists, he offends the status quo. Lock'm up, him and Chuck Berry, its as if they just gotta serve time. Can't be no other way. ----------
on the other hand, my perception is that the allegedly dull and unoriginal forum (i think HOB's post was not referring to the forum btw. maybe i'm wrong) has had a lot more traffic from first-time posters and beginners the last few months and topics have related largely to harmonica playing...and at least 1 member has resumed contributing after a long period of self-imposed exile. i also think the forum creed makes this a largely self-selecting thread limited to folks who are in agreement.
CarlA watch it. I don't want this to turn into a debate over who is a nice guy and who isn't. I can guess who you might be referring to, and in my book that crosses the line on the forum creed. Please don't stir the pot.
We try to keep an idea on who is having problems getting along, and sometimes it takes two to tango, but there were other people who complained who didn't want to get drawn into a public dispute, including some people who might surprise you. And that's not to pile on Frank either. He's doing his time.
i don't know about that statement (edit: CarlA's comment i mean)but i agree things often go both ways. hopefully there is some learning from experience of what happens when things go too far

@ncoran I don't think anything I said warrants me to "watch it". What did I say that is against the forum creed? In addition, if anyone "stirred the pot" it was post #4-5. I just injected an opinion about frank. Judging by the responses, I don't appear to be alone. But hey, your the top dog on MBH. Do what you feel you must.
Uh, my comment above was sarcastically offered, I thought the sarcasm would be obvious, but I hate it when posters have to put SARCASM in brackets after their comments. Either you get it or you don't.
I think the forum is markedly improved since his exile. No (or few) threads locked, very few arguments over the stupidest shit. Nobody antagonizing somebody for no reason. Frank did this habitually. One only has to peruse his old threads to see this. The cat can play no doubt about it, but he had turned the forum into a daily theater of the absurd exercise.
Now some disagree, and that's fine. But from time to time somebody starts a thread about him, and from the few responses you'd think he was Little Walter, Jerry Lewis and Einstein all rolled into one and therefore unjustly sanctioned. Nothing could be further from the truth. The mods and in particular the major domo exercised extraordinary patience with the man. He blew it all off.
I hope when his suspension is over he comes back minus the needless drama. I also hope that the powers that be don't look at a few responses and early reinstate the man, but that's their call.
There is absolutuely nothing wrong, boring or unoriginal about this forum, period.

Honkin'...if you were responding to me, I had gotten your point earlier. Ive gotten more value and enjoyment from it than any other site I follow. I came late to the party, just prior to his suspension. I had considered a couple of times whether it was worth staying around, not especially happy with having to work around the trolling. Arguing about stupid shit is stupid. Provoking arguments about stupid shit is really stupid. IOW, we agree. fil
"Most of the forum members who disliked him are equally disliked by other members of this board."
I suppose there is more than one way to read that statement, but in context it sounds like you are taking a shot at another forum member.
I'm not going to complain about people pining for Frank's zaniness. When we handed down the punishment it was after a lot of reflecting. It was the longest suspension we'd ever handed out, but it was not a permanent ban. Those were the options on the table.
I'm going to refrain from getting into details except to say that before someone gets suspended or banned there is usually a lot of emailing back and forth between us them to try to straighten the issue out before it gets to that level and we only proceed when that fails. That's how we try to handle every situation.
I don't see the suspension being lifted. I like Frank. If I ran into him at a bar I'd sit down and have a drink with him. I hope when he returns he's able to find the boundaries and stay within them. That's all I'm going to say on his issue.
As for people saying they miss him, that's fine. He's suspended from the forum, not abducted by aliens never to be heard from again though. We occasionally have to suspend or ban popular members. Some people are polarizing. We try our best to apply the rules evenly.
I was never a fan of Frank. I found him abrasive and didn't find his attempts at humor funny. Plus, his posts tended to be short and lacking focus. Adding random song lyrics was annoying.
I probably violated the forum creed with these remarks, but so be it.
I also want a fan of Buddha, either.

You know what, I'm just going to lock this thread, mainly because no one has posted anything about the original topic since a couple posts in. Joe L, it might not be technically violating the forum creed, but the fact that it gave you pause might have been a good sign it was time to self-censor. It added nothing to the conversation. At best, it does what? At worst, it's just going to get more people angry.
We aren't all going to get along all the time. Not every personality is going to fit with every other personality. That's life. It happens. Frank is banned for a year and Buddha is dead. It doesn't seem very sporting to be posting negatives about them here.
