Has anyone ever tried any of the Weber DT line for harp? From the way they describe them on the site, it seems like they'd be pretty good contenders with an H-dustcap and a smooth cone...

"Weber's DT-15 speaker provides warm smooth tone with a big bottom end. The 20oz magnet helps keep the speaker somewhat inefficient, so you can drive your amp into overdrive more easily than with a more efficient speaker. Excellent replacement for any amp with a 15" where you want to get some drive from those amps without a thin and harsh treble."

I'm thinking it's at the top of my short list for a replacement in my Alamo Fury. The original CTS in it blew on me a few weeks ago.

Looks like it could be a good candidate but its still a crap shoot. No H dust cap on that one? I think they sound better with stock dust caps.

If you can find a clean vintage C15N you won't be sorry.
I used them in close to a dozen amps over the years along with a 15" cab they all sounded great. Magnatone, Premier, Lectrolab, it didn't matter.
I never had an amp that that didn't sound great with one.
The 15 they used in the Mini Meat (15F150) is a good one, but can be too dark in some amps. Let us know if you pull the trigger.

The 15" currently in my Alamo has an aluminum dustcap with that same center cutout. I'm not a fan of how pronounced the highs were coming out of it. I really think an H cap would help remedy that.

I meant I don't think a H dust cap is available on the DT. As you know your current speaker is a different animal.
I personally don't like H dust caps, IMO, they muffle the sound. I've never had problems with too much highs/treble with Vintage Jensen P's/C's or the Weber Vintage series that are made to replace vintage Jensen's.

Never tried the DT but have tried the Pyle 10" that is Truck's favorite. Can't remember the model #. The Pyle was too dark in 20W amps. Then I pluged it into a Twin, Holy Crap, what a sound. That speaker just wants to be pushed. Trucks overdrives the crap out of them. Now I see why...

PS: I'm not a fan of the H dust cap either, I like my highs,

Okay...I guess I'll leave off the H-cap. But I'm gonna go with smooth cone for earlier break up.

And for the record, when it comes to Weber, they can put an H-cap on pretty much any of their speakers, and give you smooth or ribbed cone built to spec. And at no additional charge.
