Hi guys Still pretty new to the harp but I'm loving the learning process- just wondered if someone could help with harmonica advice relating to a specific song
My band have just started playing Run through the jungle and I'm doing the harp parts- as far as I know I've got all the theory parts right- the song is in the key of D and I'm using a G harmonica but try as I might I just can't get that first long note to sound the same as what Fogerty plays - I'm doing bends and stuff but it just doesn't come out as the same note on the CCR recording Am I missing something??
Grateful for any advice - thanks in advance

Yes it's a G harp. It leans heavily on the 2 draw bend, but you also need to accurately bend the 3 and 4 draw.
At my level I find that I need a well made airtight G harp to comfortably hit the bends, especially the 3 draw. Since I bought a Crossover I haven't looked back

It begins with the 4 hole draw bend. Hold it then bend up to regular 4 hole draw, then couple of those 4 hole bend wails then a quick slide down to 2 draw, just touching the 3 draw on the way. I'd say it relies heavily on the 4 draw bend. When you get the 4 hole bend the rest is just natural playin around with it and the slide down to regular 2 draw. Sometimes he goes up to the 5 draw or combines the 4-5 draw, then he slides down to 2 draw again and does a 2 draw bend then back to regular 2 draw

Since this is not an obligato part, just a solo, you could circumvent the problem by making up your own riffs.
A G in 2 pos, yes, or, since this is a minor tune, you could riff on a C harp in 3d.

My band does a medley of CCR songs pretty much every show. We do it all in the key of E however, and I play an A harp through all of it. We start with Born on the Bayou, integrate Run Through the Jungle in the middle of it and I sing lead and do the harp just as Fogerty does. Then we move into Green River, and I perform the high end guitar two-note whine on harp with reverb and fast tremolo effects added. We end with Fortunate Son, on which I slow my tremolo down some, and use it as a Leslie effect and play some organ-like chords. I wish I had a video handy...I'll have to look at home and see if I have a copy on DVD that I can extract to YouTube. ----------

Does anyone have the complete harp tab for "Run through the Jungle"?
Thanks. OZ Ken
