Just a quick heads-up: As some of you may have noticed, I've been tinkering with this website's menu. Some of those changes have been cosmetic, but I've also streamlined the long and ungainly list of things in that menu, creating subdirectories. If you scroll down the menu and hit the button for this forum, you'll notice that the forum search, FAQ, and archive pages have all become sub-directories--i.e., they're no longer visible on the main menu. But they're easy to find.

There may be more changes over the next week, but the basic housecleaning has been effected.

You gotta hold down on the blues harp forum bar to get the sub directories...

For me, if you hover the cursor over the "BLUES HARP FORUM" button (fourth from the bottom of the menu items on your left) the extra menu items appear.

I've made the buttons bluer and darkened them slightly. Better than turquoise?

Yeah this is better than turquoise. I wonder if the color choice has an influence on the mood of posters?

I tried darker blues at first, but it makes the left side of the page seem heavy. I'm no designer, god knows, but I know from watching Google and PayPal that lots of white space is good. This particular blue resonates pretty well with the color of the links, forum handles, etc. But the key thing is: what do the homepage and beginner's page look like? I'm trying not to scare away potential purchasers of my stuff.

The first thing I've noticed is that the site loads much faster now regardless of what browser you use.

One thing I'm noticing is the menu bar only comes down as far as the bottom of the forum creed which makes the page look a little unbalanced top to bottom.

It might be too white though.

I aint no designer either but those two black lines looks way to thin, i don't know, maybe by doubling them with another color wouldn't be a bad idea ?

It just feel like my browser isn't loading the site and switched to a 56k mid 90's slow internet mode.

I don't know anything about tweaking websites... but my knee-jerk is the blue colored menu boxes are hard on my eyes! I agree with BBQ, It seems to load faster I think?!

There is no place for bright colors in the Blues Harmonica World.

typos of "skilfully" and "receive a lot of" in the welcome/creed area too maybe

The spelling of "skillfully" is correct.

I've made a few more changed. Most notably, I've taken the baby blue margins away and made the menu background a steel gray (the closest I could come to that). Much better, I think.

I have also slightly shortened the creed statement and changed several emphases using underlining. The heart of the creed--i.e, the stuff that gets you into trouble if you violate it--is now underlined.

Harpin.J., no, the password retrieval is still broken and probably will be for the foreseeable future. It's complicated and the cure is worse than the disease; it would involve setting up extra email accounts and changing master emails. If anyone needs a password reset, just email me at the membership email and I'll reset it manually. (And then you should immediately reset it to something I don't know!)

OK, just my 2 cents worth as someone who looks daily:
I like the light blue, it's a "cool blue". The steel grey, not so much. Maybe it's because I'm in MN,that's what it's going to look like here for 6 months.

Today's graphical styles tend to be "flat," no borders, color right against color. I'd lose the white borders around the buttons. If that makes them less visible, change the button or background color. The site would then look more contemporary or "Modern." :)

Thanks for doing all you do, Adam.
