Hi guys I wanted to build a simple pre-amplifier for a condenser microphone. I didn't want to use a pcb and wanted it to fit in a small box. As you can see all my circuitry is done using choc blocks so soldering etc. is kept to a minimum. It's an easy and cheap way to build a project which will stand up to a lot of abuse. This one is a 3V power supply for the condenser mic plus it has a one transistor pre-amplifier stage to boost the signal and a led to show it is switched on. The size is just 4.5 x 2.25 inches. The battery supply is switched and there is an input and output jack socket. It works GREAT!
If you want to build a small simple circuit you may want to consider doing it this way. It's easy once you've mapped out your wiring routes and connections.

Nice job, tooka! These are useful things to have around. I built one some years back, powered at 9v, and soldered point to point across the terminals of the audio jacks. Tjey are simple to build and have a low parts count, and so are great beginner projects. I heartily reccommend this for anyone! ----------   YouTube! Soundcloud!

Thanks Isaac. Good to hear from you again. Here's the schematic should anyone want to build a very simple condenser mic pre-amp. These mics are quite sensitive little beasts but with the pre-amp you can pick up an ant fart from 100 yards away. I haven't included schematic detail for the led and switch. I figure if you can read the schematic you'll know how to wire those in anyway.

Tooka - I applaud your work and ingenuity. I personally can't stand condenser mics for harp - they sound awful if overdriven. Good for acoustic work though. But I've often wanted to listen to ant farts. ---------- *************************************************** /Greg
