Hi,i am new to the forum so just wanted to say hello to all the harpers out there, worldwide and here in the uk where i am living.
Quick question whats your thoughts on the suzuki pipe humming harp i have purchased one after playing the hohner meisterklasse for a good while.I cant seem to get comfy with it,feels to much like a flute in my hands where as the hohner just sits nicely in the hand.Has anybody else had a similar experience while trying out a new style harmonica.
Regards

Yeah, one of the main reasons when I was first starting out and trying to decide between Hohner special 20s and a comparable Lee Oscar model...that I went with the Sp20 was that it just felt more comfrotable in my mouth so yeah I know what you're talking about. No thoughts on the suzuki though as I've stuck with the Sp 20. Hey whatever feels right to YOU though is obviously the right choice.

The Humming Pipe is a pretty extreme example, but you'll find that all harps have their own feel in your hand. Personally, Marine Bands poke my hands and scrape my lips. I like long covers best (same style as the Meisterklasse but I've got Seydel's). Unfortunately, no one around me stocks Seydel so if I'm going to make an impulse buy I go with Special 20s or Lee Oskars. The Lee Oskars have a tendency to catch mustache hairs! Oh well.

Personally, I'm all for trying new harp designs. I've got a Turbolid harp, Seydel long covers, Sp20s, MBs, L.O.s, and even a tiny Hohner Puck and a bunch of others. They all have a different feel in the hand, but eventually you find what fits you best.

The virtue of the Pipe Humming is that it is completely airtight--so I recommend holding it differently than a regular short harp such as a SP20.
I like the way the Promasters feel in the hand--but they are not ferromagnetic, that's a consideration for me since I use a rack fairly often.
