We're rehearsing before playing a 40th birthday in a couple of weeks. This is one of our faves to play.

Stop smiling so much. You are having too much fun.

(Kinda miss that pan pipe line, though).

Good job.

In the "if it were me" department......

I would love to have heard you quote the flute solo from the original..... (hint - starts on 6 blow)

Also - the band should learn the changes for the bridge section.

@ The Iceman and Greg. Thank you for the feedback and input. I appreciate you taking the time. I guess it's time to head back to the woodshed for a bit.

Cheers!

I think you guys are sounding great
No offense - but the singer doesnt seem to have much of a blues vibe to her performance. Maybe one of you guys can sing that one and she can do some harmony.

@Goldbrick. Thanks! She is more of a soul/jazz ballady type, not a belter, but sings with a lot of feeling. We boys have a separate duo which we can ruin with our singing... :)

Cheers.

Someone just asked for the GUTC flute here and Winslow kindly provided it:

BronzeWailer, I really enjoyed your take on this. I thought is was refreshing to not quote the well-known version.

Thanks Mr so&so. Lots to think about. Freshness vs familiarity. Hmmm...

Huh, never noticed you have the same haircut and glasses as Keith Olbermann...

Nice sound. As to Goldbrick's comment, the room sounds kind of echo-y and small; combine that with being miked and it might have been hard to get that belting sound and stay in the mix. (I know I have similar problem recording vocals in my tiny apartment.)

@nacoran Had to Google Keith Olbermann but you're right. Though he has about 4 inches on me (in height). Will have to let the top grow a bit more before I get the Rick Estrin quiff, I guess. The apartment IS small. Sydney real estate is crazy. We had to put the camera at the back of the room so we could all fit in.
Cheers!

That song should go over well at the BD party - it is a fun song and I'll bet will end up being a crowd pleaser, especially if you can get them involved a little with it, singing along and such. To me with the groove you guys got going - it seems you could add a few double time choruses and speed things up into a spiritual type feel to whip em in to a frenzy some :)

Thanks Frank. I'm hoping they'll be shaking their tail feathers by then. There is a lady who does some kind of dance with a pole after us so we need to warm them up.

Hahahaha definitely - and the folks who have a few drinks in them will be going bonkers when you lay that groovy little ditty down :)
