Hi all: I hope all here are well. I have been off this forum for a while but got inspired tonight to play some amplified harp in my 1 man band set up and thought of the MBH. I have been busy as heck with my job- running the smiling with hope bakery program for special needs high school students. We have exploded nationally and between that and recording my music most everyday, time shrunk out on me. I am off for the summer and time has slipped back to easy time :-). You can hear the songs at the link below. For those that are not aware of what Spontobeat is,everything is done in real time with real instruments and I make up the words and music as I go along. Walter

here is a link to some tv/press on The Smiling With Hope Program.

thanks everyone! Posting back here was a bit scary in the sense that I have completely disconnected from the music world and been at peace with it. Having my studio, a great customizer doing my harps, singing/playing all the instruments at once,I am totally self contained. It is a very freeing experience.

A small part of me still hopes someday my music will get accepted to the point that I can play good gigs but I am no longer trying to make that happen. I feel very lucky to have found myself and be satified with being able to make music anyway I want anytime I want. Music is for ones soul but our society has pushed it to profit and thus it has warped to the point that most of us are born deformed so to speak with it and I have been deformed much of my life. For me it has taken over 50 years (still working on it too) to find peace with music and how it fits in our society and fits for me. Walter

this tv news segment done recently has some harp in it. I share this with the hopes that like a stone thrown in a pond one never knows where the ripples will lead to. My hope is it brings some more awareness to just how great a worker special needs people can be and someone(s) will give them a shot in their workplace.

Thanks Emille! We hand roll, boil, bake on bagel boards, and finish the bagels on the pizza oven deck oven stones, just like back home. The pizza ovens are mine and are the best deck ovens ever built (mid 70's), We do everything just like back home which I have found out is a rarity in the midwest. Being raised in the Newark NJ area was a gift with food. My mother is from Italy and her and her family were master bakers/pizza makers and I learned it as a kid and was always able to find work in a bakery/pizzeria when music was not paying the bills. Here in central Ohio it is wierd trip with food for me. I have never lived in the midwest. I have lived in the NYC area, SF bay area, Sonoma County CA, Austin, Brussels, and had no idea that food could be of such little interest out here as compared to what I have been accustomed to all my life. If anyone wants a real deal NY pizza, bagel, or artisan bread, stop by sometime. Walter

Yeah! Great to hear from you Walter. You can take the boy out of the harp but you can't take the harp out of the boy. Or something like that.

Walter the ovens are an east coast thing.
I was playing in Atlanta once and a sign said,

thanks again everyone! The book hasn't been published and to be honest the author and myself have lost interest in it. He is now the minister at an old church in England and I am deep into my Smiling With Hope Bakery Program at Newark High School. Both of us are consumed with these projects and they are much more meaningful to the world than another book.

I am thankful I got called to work with special needs people. . Walter

You sound good as usual.

Your face in the news story says it all. It's more than just happiness. In French, the word is "comblé." It means rejoicing in being at peace, happy, satisfied.

Everyone is looking for it and you found it. Cheers!

thanks for those kind words arzajac! I thought my road to peace was playing music full time. I finally realized through nothing more than time on this earth that playing music is my road to peace and making money with it is my road to hell which I refused to listen to until special needs people crossed my trail :-) If that didn't come I would probably have gone mental. Going to college to be a teacher changed my life and today most of my music friends that are still alive are struggling with poverty, mental illness, and bad health. I am finding peace. I can play music my own way anytime and for however long I want and the teaching pays the bills. I never fit in the music scene and now have no need to fit in. Money means nothing to me in concern to my music anymore. To have found 2 passions that I am driven to do is more than I ever could have wished for. Walter
