I would start the most exaggerated, two foot stomp the world has ever seen. At least they had the sense to realize that they were waaaay off beat and stopped. ----------

If it ain't got harp - it ain't really blues!!!!

When I first came to Austin I went to see Bonnie Raitt. At one point the audience began to clap along. Bonnie noted after that only in Austin does the audience always clap in time. Been here 10 years now and found that to be absolutely true. ---------- LSC

The crowd was way into it!!! Deservingly so... You can palpate their energy.
I'd be curious to know what they had just finished playing or where they were in their set. Was the crowd just coming down from an up-tempo song?
In any case, they just rode it out. They never deviated from the groove and eventually everyone just snaps to it.

@arzajac
"palpate" - examine (a part of the body) by touch, especially for medical purposes.
Still trying to figure out how you "palpate [the] energy" of an audience from a video, but OK.
At least I learned a new word. LOL

You own it.. Have the guitar player keep up playing softly .. motion to him to keep playing... Tell a quick funny story to the crowd..
While you are chatting it up, help them clap on time..
Some really great artists out there - guitar great Keith Urban comes to mind - deal with this all the time. The magic of their performance is the ability to get the crowd participating and sounding good, too. Makes for great shows.. and even better You Tube vids.. ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

Buddha was on an episode of one those shows on a Discovery/TLC/History/A&E type channel. It was an auction show, I think. He was called in to show that a walking stick with a harmonica in the handle actually played. He was prepared to play something complex and jazzy, but the audience started clapping in time and he couldn't find anything but basic stuff to play. I think he ended up with 'O Susanna'. It really frustrated him. ---------- Nate Facebook Thread Organizer (A list of all sorts of useful threads)
