I'm adding a song to my harp repertoire. This is my "Amazing Grace" study in no particular order:

Rhema Marvanne:
She does something unique (to me) 48 seconds in. I want to borrow that and translate it into my harp speak.

Michael Spray:
Excellent rendition. I tip my hat and toss a few coins into his.

Christelle Berthon:
She speaks in her third language but harp is her first. No borders or ugly Americans there. After the ad and the splain it's pure superb music.

Todd Parrott:
Heart and soul. Not unlike the previous in that regard but very special. My personal favorite.

So I grab what I will and do what I can; I will add this song to my repertoire with all this excellent influence.

I know I people will probably say I should be able to play any key on my C

Thanks for the input. Mikael Fall sounds great. Howard Levy deserves most honorable mention but I try to keep my goals realistic.

@mac1012 - For now I've been starting at 1 draw in any key.

Howard Levy is an amazing player, but imo he murdered a great song.

@mac- i think you can play Amazing grace nicely in three different positions (keys) on a standard Richter.

1. The most common is second pos, key of G on a C harp starting on hole one draw. Need a double bend on hole three.

2. First position, key of c on a c harp, which I guess is what you are playing. Start on three blow. Need a double bend in hole three. OR if you play in top octave you start on hole six blow. Nice sound on, say a G harp with no bends needed but you can use some blow bends for inflection but shrill on a C harp.

3. Twelfth position, key of F on a C harp. Start on blow four. No bends needed but you can both draw and blow bend some for inflection.

Edit: you can easily change key of backing track to fit your preferred harp and position. Use a software like free audacity or other of your choosing.

Still trying to smooth it out. I have a tendency to double hit the 3 draw before I bend it down to the other notes.

Along the same vein if I need to nail a stand alone 3 draw bend note on other songs it comes out as a honk. Practice, practice. I the meantime, I have to flutter it to smooth the sound.

Edit: @1847, Nice rendition.

Of course, there are other ways to do it.
