will figure price etc needs coup le valves reglued --otherwise sat around for 30-40+ years or so-- old guy gave it to me approx 1982 -- its definately playable and good shape--excluding--valve glue-- played 5 min utes worth 20 years ago--may need tuning ---way to many reeds for me to tune-- i have no problem tuning mt own 10 diatonics- don't even want to deal with all these reeds---took me long enough to sorta learn to 'play and work on' standard harps -don't want a new 'form of compulsive behavior" messing with chromatics---Whats it worth? is it collecters item? no clue thanks

It's not worth much and certainly not a collectors item. I've been
Playing my 280 since 1976....they haven't changed much. It's not unusual for these old harps (playable) to go for 20 or 30 bucks around here.

You might do better on eBay

I'm wondering what vintage it is. There are at least 4 distinct periods:

1) Straight tuned with wood comb - up to early 1950s. If the square holes inside the round mouthpiece holes are all open along the top half with the slide out, it belongs to that vintage. Some players prize these, especially the prewar models.

1a) Early postwar aluminum reedplates - these are very thick compared to regular reed plates. These harps tend to be rather leaky.

2) Crosstuned pink/faux-wood finish with pinned reed plates (mid-1950s to about 1980) The holes inside the round holes are in a checkerboard pattern, alternating between top and bottom half of the hole. The plastic comb has a faux wood finish, but the edges of the comb are a salmon pink or brownish color. Reedplates are fastened with drift pins that go all the way through the comb and both reed plates. These are fairly common.

3) Crosstuned black with bolted reedplates. Comb is black plastic, reedplates are bolted on (current model). These are found used less often.

4) Post-2005 reed design. The reeds were redesigned starting in 2005. Some players (me included) prefer the pre-2005 reeds.
