Renowned blues harp artist and instructor Ronnie Shellist enthusiastically endorses the Memphis Mini harp amp.

Ronnie has had the amp for weeks. He gigged it, took it to jams, and played it at home for hours. He asked me tons of questions about it (and made some suggestions) and he is so impressed with the amp he has strongly endorsed it.

I think this clip will forever be known as the "Garage Demo." ;-)

We will be at SPAH in St Louis with the Memphis Mini amp in August. Ronnie will be teaching in the middle of the day -- Weds, Thurs, and Fri -- with Joe Filisko, but around those sessions he will be available to demonstrate the amp. Everybody is welcome to play the Memphis Mini.

Rick, great video, and glad your back, just ignore all those who are jealous of your success, I for one think it's great that I can actually find info on harp amps on a harp forum, who would of thought. Glad that your doing something for the harp community, rather than sitting behind a computer, hiding, and acting like a child. When I get the money I will be getting one of your amps for sure. Keep up the good work. Thanks

I was one of the guys that said some mean things, and un true for that matter, and i´m truly sorry for that Rick!
It´s nice to see that you are back and when i come to think about it i realy don´t care that you promote your amp here.
You have 3000 posts and if people wasn´t that commited to this forum it wouldn´t be any forum.
I know now that Adam are alowing people to advertise on the board and i hope that when i, if that would ever happend, have a product i will get my "space" on the board to!
Your amp sounds killer and if Ronnie endorses it it HAS to be a mean little amp!
Again sorry for my selfish stupid comments!

As said earlier, in another thread, it would be best if the comment from 1847 just went by without any comments what so ever.

Agree Sonny3..I am losing a lot of respect for endorsers. I know a few well known great harp players that made videos and don't own the amps they played although they are still featured in videos on boutique amp sites.

My suggestion is use your ears and be your own judge. Ask a lot of questions. Amps sound different in different sized rooms and shapes.

That said, For me I do prefer the tone that Rick goes for and do respect his opinion. He does not fluff the amp. He tells it as it is and does not sugar coat.

Rick the amp sounds fantastic. I’d also like to thank you for your very valuable input on so many subjects. This form has some wonderful people from novice to pro. I started playing harp in about 1972 , took a long (way to long break ) and started back learning again about a year ago. Since then I’ve gotten some great help rebuilding an old 1961 amp form a very helpful member. It’s about the blues.. about helping each other.. Learning having fun and most of all a love of music. So to you, Adam, Mark and everyone else who shares so freely I would like to say Thanks

The amp sounds great in Ronnies hands. I think the line out explanation portion of that video will be very helpful to a lot of people.

CapitalG - I seem to recall that Rick can provide the MM in 240v suitable for the UK. I also seem to recall that to ship to France was about $120USD which is around £72GBP. Don't forget you'll also have to pay customs charges on top of that as well. I expect in total the amp would probably cost you somewhere in the region of £450-500GBP to ship to the UK including UK customs charges. I'm sure Rick will be able to give a better idea of the overall cost though.

On average when trying to work out the cost of stuff from the States to the UK you can normally expect to end up paying in pounds what USA list price is in dollars, plus a little bit more for customs charges.

I'm convinced... I'd like to place an order for 1000 of those amps and put them in the world book of records by connecting them all together and playing them at the same time. While I'm at it I will attempt another world record by playing a 4/5 warble for 15 minutes straight - DREAM BIG, aim low - but always in moderation :)

I disagree with a lot of things, however before I get nasty and critical I ask myself : What have I done ? Where have I stepped outside of the box, gone out of my comfort zone and taken a risk, pushed my limit a little, risk losin my ass, invested hours and hours and money that may not be returned. What have I done besides look for the fly in the ointment ?

Sardonicitis is incurable, recurs in outbreaks of varying frequency and intensity, and is easily spread through casual contact, including internet forum exchanges.

Sardonicitis is to be differentiated from Corneal Rectalitis, a disease resulting from an organism that enters via the rectum, is absorbed through the lower intestine, travels through the bloodstream and settles behind the eyes, giving the infected person a sh***y outlook on life.

I still like the amp and Ronnie's endorsement video, and were I not already overstocked with several tube PA heads I bought cheap years ago on Ebay, I would buy a Memphis Mini. It is set up for harp and would do fine in most rooms around here assuming that I was playing with a reasonable band who played at reasonable stage volume.

I am looking forward to trying out the Memphis Mini in St. Louis in August.

Well I ordered mine. Based on the components and various clips it sounds like one of the better sounding small amps so far. It reminds me of a 58 Princeton I played through on smaller gigs. I could search out for a vintage and most likely have to work on it after paying good bucks for it. I think the price is reasonable.

Nice review by Ronnie, I enjoyed that clip. His instructions on setting the PA was good , as I have trouble turning the damn thing on, but I digress.
Ronnie did an endorsement for Sonny Jr a few years back.

http://bluesharpamps.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Both amps sound great and both obviously have their "place."
I honestly gravitate towards larger amps as they have proven to work best for me. I have gone the route of using small amps, even in tandem, as many do at this forum, but that then becomes too complicated with all those wires, dial adjustment and stuff (remember , I have problems turning on the PA!)

At the end of the day, for me, it is a good idea to have a 5 watt amp in your quiver for hme use and rehearsals. I wouldn't use it at gigs unless I was playing with some sympathic players who can tame their volume. I would buy one of these amps in a minute, if I didn't have a 5 watt amp already. It is for sale and once it moves I will buy one of the Minis.

The only thing that puzzles me is why does Ronnie keep his Cruncher in the house and the Memphis Mini in the barn? Oh well, maybe the SJ doubles as a piece of fine furniture!

Nice review Ronnie and congrats Rick, I imagine this is a dream come true. Very cool and you have found a niche that has been waiting to be filled.

I agree, going the route of making a small harp amp was wise...

And as far as endorsements are concerned - All the endorser is saying is you'll get what you paid for...

Inotherwords, they have enough experience to back-up that the product is a worthy purchase to consider...

If they lie to try and sell a crappy product, then their reputation is on the line -

So basically - If the buyer trusts the endorser's word, ( Ronnie knows his shit) then you can feel good about buying a decent product not a lemon :)

Said what I meant.
I would really like to get one of these amps (said that) and seeing another thread about it reminds me how much I want one. Good. The line out, tone and the price would make it great to work with. Currently I am selling my 59 Champ to get $ for rent so who knows when the MM will happen.
All of my posts regarding the amp and Rick have been positive.

Rick I agree with Littoral. Don't go anywhere and just ignore the idiots posting on this thread looking to start an argument. They are simply so pathetic and must have nothing else going on in their lives, if they feel the need to constantly stoop to the level of a troll. The amp looks and sounds good. It's good that in today's world there are so many good choices of harps, mics, amps, effects and tuitional material available to harp players. You should be proud to be part of that. Those that can't see the benefits to the harmonica community of the multitude of things available to players today are simply morons and should be treated as such.

this whole thing is bizarre
not too long ago i suggested you could gig with a 5 watt amp
i thought we could have a reasonable discussion re: the advantages and disadvantages
of using such a set up.
but instead i was lambasted and ridiculed.
"a 5 watt amp is rarely gigable"
now who is gigging with a 5 watt amp?
strangest marketing campaign i have ever seen
not only gigging with one but selling them also.
he even bought one to give away for an endorsement.

As for the local pros, Nic Clark plays a 44-watt Mission Bandmaster. Ronnie Shellist plays a SJ Avenger. Al Chesis plays a Mission Bandmaster. Dan Treanor plays a custom Bandmaster, sometimes a Fender Super Reverb.

Are they all missing something? Perhaps you could share your secret with them. Carrying a Champ around to club dates would be a lot easier than lugging a Harpking or a Bassman. Help 'em out, man!
the whole thing is quite strange.

i get a lot of request when i play my harmonica
"but i play it anyway"
