Peter Damman told me that he was totally shocked when Paul finally fell real ill and died.
He said that over the years, Paul seemed indestructable.
I hung with Paul in Portland when he was feeling poorly. I watched as he limped up to the stage, but once the set started, he was his old energetic self.
He lived to perform, Bubbah. ---------- The Iceman

I was able to make some changes - but only because my lifestlye is flexible.
I got rid of my couch 5 years ago. I replaced my computer chair and desk with a standup workstation. I doubt I will ever get another couch, and I will never own a computer chair again.
Most Americans like to sit, eat, and look at screens. If you can break this habit, it's helpful.
But it's hard to give up sitting, eating, and looking at screens, esp if your job depends on it. Plus, it's everyone's favorite pastime. Even at the blues jams, people like to come in, sit down, order food, eat and watch the show. At least get up and dance!

A Doctor-Professor answers the old question "What is the single best thing we can do for our health" in a completely new way. Dr. Mike Evans is founder of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a staff physician at St. Michael's Hospital.

I've been working on my weight. There are always complications. Heel spurs in my case, limited how much walking I could do, and that made it easier to put on more weight, which made the heel spurs worse. When you are short on money it's hard to eat healthy.
It's doable though, and it's important. When Buddha passed away, he was the same age and build as me, that got my attention. I've still got a long way to go, but I'm down from a high of 307 to 260.
The heel spurs, by the way, were from a Tae Kwon Do class I was taking to get in shape when things were first heading south back in college.

Most are overweight because they suffer from life style disease.
Changing your eating habits is not easy, but worth the trouble.
NO MORE FAST FOODS...they are poison.
If you are inspired, invest in a set of waterless cookware to eliminate cooking foods in oils and/or butter. That change alone helped me drop 10 pounds within the first two months.
Walking works well...also bicycling.
Serve your dinners on small plates and put less food out. It will still look like a full plate to the eye.
Look into eating like those in the Mediterranean do (Italy, for example). ---------- The Iceman
