Very nice, but I think I like Tracy Chapman's original better.

I dig this!...I stumbled across this a year back or so when researching the song for our trio ( now duo), and thought what a great honour for Tracey that he chose her song! Also like Johnny Cash doing Nick Caves 'Red right hand'...
Oops......I mean 'The mercy seat'

I think the Jr. Wells one is being played in open G on the guitar so grab your C harp. She has such a pretty voice on the original:

This song has always sounded older than it really is to me. When I first heard it I figured she was covering a lost standard.

I'm also partial to 'For my Lover'

Thats a great song...never heard either version before.

@grahamonica Thanks, Graham. I'm gonna try to do a video with me jamming on my new Low F. I guess the guitar is in open C. I never expect that tuning on guitars...

That's from Junior's great 1996 album "Come in this House" with Tab Benoit, Corey Harris, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Sonny Landreth, Bob Margolin, John Mooney, Derek Trucks and Jon Cleary. I can't find any info who's playing on this particular cut.

Sometimes I miss liner notes.

@timeistight- I have this great album and I believe, it has recently been reissued. From the liner notes "Give Me One Reason" Junior on Vocals/Harmonica, Sonny Landreth on National Steel Guitar/Electric Slide Guitar, Herman Ernest 111 Drums, Bob Sunda Acoustic Bass; Songwriter-Tracey Chapman.
@DukeBerryman-Thanks for posting Houndog, great version from Tracey who is a great favourite of mine and Kim as always awesome with the harp.
