Sennheiser Evolution e906 vs. Electro Voice N/D468

What would the noticable differences be between these mics?
I'm looking at miking a gretsch G5222. Or would It be worth buying something like the Memphis Mini and use the line out?

Thanks

The e906 and e609 are both damn good mics for miking up just about any amp. That's pretty much what they were designed to do.

Not that I don't recommend getting a Memphis Mini if you've got an itch for a new amp...especially one of that caliber...but adding a speaker driven line out is a pretty simple task on virtually any amplifier. Most amp techs could have it done in a day and at a very reasonable price. Your Gretsch would be no exception, and regardless of which way you go with this, I'd advise investing in adding one anyway.

Since I prefer Electrovoice microphones, this string caught my interest. I looked up the specs for the EV N/D468, and then the specs for a microphone that I own - the Electrovoice DS35.

It's a vintage mic, used in their early years by Bruce Springsteen and Geddy Lee of Rush as their go-to vocal mics, and has had extensive use in studios as both a drum and vocal mic. I only use mine for acoustic harp playing, The reason that I bring it up is because it is a very high quality mic, and may be a lower cost alternative.

More often than not, the price on eBay for a used one (they haven't been made since the 1970's) is STILL in the $70-100 range or a little more, on average. There are some right now on sale in that price range.

A look at the specs tells me that the DS35 can get the job done, and I am going to look at this mic also for amp miking purposes.

Below find the link for the specifications for the DS35 and well as the N/D468, and you be the judge.

The DS35 is low impedance.
