This solo number from Rick is always great but, imo never better than this very recent performance.

When asked how he keeps motivated, Risk Estrin replied:
"I never get tired of my own sh*t!"

Speaking of Rick Estrin, his DVD "Secrets, Subtleties and Tricks of the Blues Harmonica" is really great. A must have. Not only does it have some great tips, but it is super entertaining and funny. Rick plays some tasty licks as he illustrates his points. It isn't about which note to play, more about how to communicate what you feel, how to be on stage and so on. The lesson I like best is the last one where he reveals his "secrets" to amazing the audience. The best one he calls "Man, this sh*t is deep!" Here what you do is play a long soulful riff, stop, look down and then look at the audience as if to say - "Man, this sh*t is deep." And it is - when he plays it.

I was sitting right behind the camera in front of the stage. As good as this video is, it didn't compare to being there and experiencing this live. It was quite impressive.

Opened for the Nite Cats once. They used our gear and Estrin played through my two 1/12 combo amps that I ran in series. Incredible player, singer, songwriter, harp player, and performer. Oh, aaaannd he's a great guy! After he blew my shit away and the show was over, he took the time to talk to me for about a 1/2 an hour about gospel music. The Mighty Clouds of Joy, that kind of thing. He just gets better and better. ---------- i still have a little Hohner stock for reed replacement in three common keys. when these are gone i'm out of the biz. click MP for my e-mail address and more info.

Hondo - It's either a Hohner 364 or a 365.
