Just picked up another Valve Jr. This is a 'Legacy'-branded combo. They called it 'Valve Edition 5'. Looks like a mk 2. I'm so happy with my alnicomagnet modded head, and my recent 6v6 modded combo...I just had to put in a bid for this. $165 took it, for a brand new-in-box amp. The cords are still wrapped, box hadn't been opened. That's not necessarily good news I guess, depending on where its been stored. I'm considering the options. Maybe it's time to do the LW mod. I'm interested in hearing from others who have LW-modded VJs. Have they stood the test of time? Do the EL84s give good service? ----------

Mine is still going strong. I've tried a couple different brands of EL84 tubes in it, but JJ's seem to be best in terms of tone. I don't rock it all that much these days (apartment life precludes that), but it's been going strong for 4 years or so now...
LW mods REALLY make a difference with this amp. Not too hard to pull off, and make a huge impact on tone. ----------   YouTube! Soundcloud!

Thanks Isaac. I noticed a lot of mods address the issue of running the power tube within spec . The LW mod leaves it stock, which seems to be a little beyond spec. But it may be that using the amp for harp doesn't really drive things too hard. ----------
