Listing things you're thankful for seems to be a popular thing this season, at least on Facebook, so I thought it would be fun to list some harmonica things and folks for which I'm thankful. This list is by no means in order of importance, and is certainly not a complete list. Feel free to share yours as well.

1. Terry McMillan (RIP) for his influence on my playing.
2. Chris Reynolds, for his combs and friendship.
3. David McKemy, for inspiring me to pick up my first harmonica.
4. Hohner, for great harps.
5. Adam Gussow, for this forum, great videos, his friendship, and for Thunky Fing!
6. Joe Spiers, for his amazing customs and for being a great friend.
7. Jason Ricci, for inspiring harmonica players everywhere to push the harmonica beyond its limits, and for the many free videos.
8. SPAH, for providing a place where harmonica players can come together and feel normal for playing the harmonica. :)
9. Randy Sandoval, for his colorful combs, harps and friendship.
10. Tom Halchak, for his kindness, friendship, combs, and powder coated covers.
11. Buddy Greene, for being another great friend and influence.
12. Greg Heumann, for being one of the coolest guys I know.
13. Greg Jones, for teaming up with Seydel so I have another Seydel person to pick on.
14. Christelle Berthon, for great videos and playing, and for being a great friend.
15. Brandon Bailey, for "People Take My Soul" and for being a great friend.
16. TJ Klay, for being one of the best friends in the world.
17. Phil Duncan, for his kindness and friendship, and for the great harmonica resources through the years.
18. David Barrett, for bringing together so many great players for interviews, and for his teaching material.
19. Adam Hamil, for being one of the nicest people in the world, a true asset to Hohner, and for all of his work he offers for free at the harp conventions.
20. Michael Rubin, for being a great friend and excellent harp teacher, and player.
21. Mike Caldwell, for his friendship and great musical advice.
22. Dave Berntson, for the Tulsa Harp Summit, and for his kindness and professionalism.
23. Derek Crowder at Hohner, for the many laughs.
24. Nate (nacoran), for all of his hard work and attention to this forum.
25. Tom Dikon, for being a friend, fan, and all-around good guy.
26. Matt Smart, for the Evanwood comb, and for the work on my Ab Golden Melody covers - no more reed rattle!
27. George Royster, for his friendship.
28. Dwayne "Catfish" Frye, for his friendship and passion for overblows and overdraws.
29. Christophe Dortel, for GORGEOUS harps.
30. Charlie McCoy, for being a pioneer of country-style harmonica.
31. Peter Elder, for being one of the best harp players I know, inspiring the flattened 7 draw tuning, and for being my friend.
32. Bill Newton, for his friendship and monster harmonica playing through the years.
33. Paul Messinger, for his kindness and great songs and playing.
34. Joe Filisko, for all of his work at SPAH, and for pioneering harmonica customizing.
35. Brendan Power, for the many great tunings and inventions, and for fabulous playing.
36. Richard Sleigh, for his contributions to the harp community, including SPAH, and for being a nice guy.
37. Alex Paclin, for being a friend and great harp player and musician.
38. YouTube, for giving us harmonica players a place to share our videos.
39. All of my friends on MBH and Facebook, too many to name - I love your posts, playing, videos, and it's always great to see you at SPAH and other harp conventions,
40. God, for blessing me with a good set of ears, and musical talent.

Well.... I didn't mean to type such a long list, and I'm sure I've unintentionally left someone out, because I'm human... and because it's almost 3:00 a.m. If I realize later that I've left someone out, I'll add to my list. But, until then, please know that I appreciate you all and I'm glad to have so many friends in the harp community.

Keepin' it short:
1) Very, very thankful that I got to see Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee and Buddy Guy and Junior Wells quite a few times in my "formative years."
2) Later, thanks to the internet for revealing so many opportunities to spend my money on amplified harp gear.
3) Thanks to the Jackson Hole community for being supportive.
Enough for now...

Interesting how once you start thinking about it, the list does grow!

Todd. I am honored to be included on your list. I think all will agree that you are one of the “Nice Guys” out there in the Harmonica World and are amazingly talented. Those qualities compel people to help in your quest to create beautiful music.

Like I said, I knew I'd end up leaving someone out... so I'd like to add:

41. Rupert Osyler, for first demonstrating to me, in 2001, how to bend overblows.
42. Steve Baker, for the Harp Handbook, and for being a great asset to Hohner and the rest of the harmonica world.
43. PT Gazell, for the amazing work with half-valving, and for being one of the smoothest players on the planet.
44. "Jelly Roll" Johnson, for being a friend, a great player, and for always being a cool guy to chat with at SPAH.
45. Pat Bergeson, for being another inspiration to me with his jazz on the diatonic.
46. Mike Street and Andrew Alli, for remaining friends with me even after being my roommates at HCH.
47. Robert Logan, for Radicizing on his B-Radical at the Radisson, and for wearing cooler hats than me.
48. Shawn Freeman (AKA Harpman Freeman), for being an incredible and generous friend.

It really is hard to stop when you start thinking about all the great folks in the harmonica world! The list just keeps growing!

I am grateful to the program and fellowship of men and women who have helped get and stay sober these past two and half decades. And I am thankful for family, friends and the expressive talents I've been blessed with. And thank you everyone on this forum for your insights and encouragement regarding this blessed instrument, the diatonic harmonica.I ----------

1. All the great friends I've made on this forum!
2. Adam, for his great music, great video lessons, this great forum, and a place for me to ramble on.
3. Everyone else who shares their expertise for free, whether it's musical or technical or practical life advice. :)
3. Free Reeds. (The concept, no, I don't have a source of 'free' reeds.)
4. All the people I've met because harmonica dragged me back out into the world.
5. All the guys who make great harmonica bling.
6. Everyone who has listened to me patiently when I start talking about magnets and harmonicas.
7. Magnets.
8. All the people who manage to stay on the 'narrow' topic of harmonica, but still manage to widen my experience, whether it's classical music, jazz, blues, harp boxing, harp art, and zany harp related videos, or even a thread like this, which reminds me what it's all about!
9. That cute college aged girl today who said she liked my playing and asked if I was playing anywhere. :)
10. One of those days (today was one) when the harmonicas seemed to be doing whatever I told them to. They don't happen often enough for my liking, but when they do it's like hitting 10 three pointers from half-court in a row and then throwing a touchdown. (That's inspired by a terrible true story, but I won't share that now. Just remember everyone to include that on the things you are thankful for! ;)

Thanks for the great thread Todd!
