The passing of Chris Michalek and Fritz Hasenpusch left a big void in the custom harp products offering. I think enough time has passed for me to ask the question: What became of their business's and all of the inventory they had? Has someone in this forum picked up their tools of the trade?

I know Chris had several people he shared some of his knowledge with. I think Mike Fugazi, Zhin Wong and Isaac Ullah all got some pointers from him. (I could be wrong in remembering that. It's been a while.)
I don't think there was much stock left, or it was disorganized. Several people who'd paid for harps didn't get them in the end.

Imagine all the unknown harp players who die off daily and have tons of harp and music related stuff -
Can we begin an organization that monitors all the harmonica players in the world and have a Central warehouse where they can donate their stuff after death,
In order to be re- utilized by the harp freaks left behind... until their demise, and it can again be recycled through the central Warehouse harmonica stuff collection site :)

Here’s a sad tale for you. At the Florida Harmonica Championships in 2011 an elderly gentleman approached me because I had a vendor’s tent set up. He told me that he was looking for someone to purchase his collection of harmonicas because he was dying and didn’t want to burden his wife with disposing of them. He estimated that he had about $10,000 worth of harmonicas. I wasn’t nearly as well connected back then as I am now. I did make a few calls but with my limited circle of harmonica friends, I was not able to help him. RIP ---------- Tom Halchak www.BlueMoonHarmonicas.com
