Getting a local guitar amp builder to make me a dedicated Harp amp.
He has read all the info i have sent him as to what makes a good amp and is quite keen to do it.
30Watt with two 10" speakers.

He has a limited range of speakers on hand and to import something like the little buddies would put me way over budget.
He has suggested these
http://bhspeakers.com/product_view.asp?id=1036

Anyone know anything about them?
TIA

Jehosaphat, that speaker looks like a rebranded Weber. Are Weber speakers available to you? Mixing a ceramic Sig 10 with an alnico Sig 10 would sound good and would be inexpensive. (But the Weber website reports that both speakers are "temporarily out of stock."

Good luck with the project. Post videos when it is finished.

What about WGS speakers? They have a decent looking selection. Alnico is a little expensive though. I don't think I ever see them getting mentioned on this forum. Is there a reason for that?

Tim, I have the Warehouse Veteran 20 in my Champ and I have mentioned it here in the forum several times. It crunches big time and can get a bit nasty. I like the raunchy tone.

I suggested the two Weber speakers because I have actually tried that combination in my Avatar 2x10 cab. The speakers sounded good together. Smoother and warmer than the Veteran speaker, and they cost about the same as the Veteran.

I've been wondering about their G8C 8" for my Lone Wolf build. Laid ears on that one Rick?

2 Veterans could be a little trebly. I tried 2 of them with and without beamblockers. I have them in my 35 w combo amp with beam blockers and it be very nice and have a great bass response.

Getting speakers out to NZ is probably as bad or worse than getting them over here to the West island. If you choose well and nothing goes wrong, you can save a little, maybe 30%, by importing direct, but you bear the risk of no local service if things go wrong and many warranties leave you responsible for shipping.
To give you an idea of the prices; my buddy has a 12" Jensen alnico in his deluxe which is like a $200 unit in US. $450 in Australia.
I'm thinking about trying one of these:

just wondering if they would be better suited to the guitar?

Open back cabinets are less complementary, this model produces a
thin bright detailed sound therefore a fair amount of top -end cut EQ is desirable in this
application.

There doesn't appear to be a Weber dealer here in NZ
I appreciate your advice Rick.
Yeah Superbee we are being ripped off by the local importers 200% markups seem to be the norm here on stuff from the States.
There is a local guy here in Auckland who has a good range of celestion speakers any suggestions?
Maybe instead of going for 2 10" go for a single 12"?

Celestion Tube 10 speaker is not bad. I heard Ronnie Shellist play a vintage Kay amp that had this speaker in it and it was good, and costs only $45 here in America. Of course, it was Ronnie Shellist playing...

@1847
Hopefully nothing as i'll probably have to end up going with them anyway.;

Just checking any other harp friendly options that may be available here in NZ.
This will be the first ever non guitar amp i've ever owned and is quite a serious investment on my part.

Sorry i missed the speaker you posted. They look fine.
