MAL: Sounds very cool! Love your playing here. Very fluid and soulful. A recording suggestion: Bring the harp up in the mix, and pan it more in the center.
I like this direction from you! ----------

Thanks Isaacullah! Ya I'm just beginning to learn mixing so I appreciate the input! I love the sound of harp on kinda calm tracks, and nobodies doing it at all. This probably the wrong forum to share on since it's a blues forum but I think it's a new direction for harmonica. Kinda inspired by Mr. Kaplan.

You got a fine, soft sound there that I really like. How did you get it?

Dan is a major inspiration to small group of us here on the forum, including myself and GreyOwl. His style of playing was a revelation to me, and listening to it, and talking to him, has pretty radically affected the way I approach my music. I'm hopefully going to have a chance to meet up with him this spring when I'm down in Austin for some other business. I'll pass along the fact that he's inspiring such cool new directions among our little group of players. I'm sure he'll really appreciate that... ----------   YouTube! Soundcloud!

@ Martin I used an astatic biscuit with a controlled magnetic I got from dennis gruenling running through a line 6 pod x3 tweaked the EQ for a good harp sound and the only effect going straight in was I think 3-4 on the reverb. Then after I recorded in reaper I added a delay. I like the line 6 pod for harp, it sounds really great.
For the other sounds I just used a korg wavedrum to play the drums and made a loop with a pocket piano synth and added bass and leads sounds from that too. ---------- Andrew Larson, R.N.

Hi Andrew, Nice piece that just flows along. As for what belongs on a blues forum - I always hear lot's of blues influence (phrasing, feeling, etc) in songs outside traditional blues forms. To me one of the beautiful things about slow playing is the way it brings out the vocal quality of the harp. It will be nice to hear how all this goes as you work more with the mixing.

@MAL: I would never have guessed that you were playing through a CM element. Your tone is very warm, but not overly crispy. I like it a lot! I've never used any Line 6 products, but it sounds like they are working for you very well. Thanks for the info!
@GreyOwl: I will certainly do so, but Dan likely knows already: his handle here is paperharmonica, and he's contributed to this thread! :) ----------   YouTube! Soundcloud!

Very nice! And not just the harp playing (though the harp was very nice, too)! the whole composition was well thought out and the sound worked perfect with your harp sound. Keep it up! Be proud! ---------- Pistolkatt - Pistolkatts youtube
