In the 20 watts and up range. I am trying to be versitile with my equipment. I have an Epi V Jr. Half Stack (5w) and a Tweed Pro Jr. (15w), so a larger head played through the Eminence Lady Luck would provide a nice option, I think.

As much as we discuss amps, I'm suprised that there haven't been any suggestions.

VHT Special 12/20RT. Bout as versatile as an amp head can get.

Egnater Rebel 20. Gary Smith uses one. He uses it with a 12" cab loaded with a modern Jensen P12R.

I bought a Rebel 20 when they first came out that I use for guitar, but with the right speaker, it's a great harp amp. More versitle than the VHT.

I also have the harp settings that Gary uses on the Rebel if anyone needs them.

I used a Masco ME-18 amp with the Epi Valve Jr speaker cab. It sounded awesome.

Here is the EH 44 Mag amp/pedal into the Epi VJr cab:

The pedal is a 44 watt amp. It costs $150.

Sure you can't beat the Masco, I thought he was referring to new amps.

IMO, the H&K sounded like crap! If your after bright and screechy, then the H&K is ideal.

We all have different tastes when it comes to tone.

Nothing personal!

no worries, that's why i asked
i like getting different tones

i guess i like bright and screechy lolf
i like it blended with the champ
part of that bright sound is the octave pedal.
i am using an 8'inch speaker
a 10 inch would deepen the sound a bit also
thanks for the input.

incidentally it was most likely being played on the upper
octave of an F harp so there is that.

Well you didn't say vintage or new. My favorite big amp head is a '68 Fender Bandmaster non reverb (AB763 circuit) thru a 2x10 Tremolux size cab. The Bandmaster makes 45W and has lower gain and a smaller OT compaired to a Bassman or a Super Reverb. Great tone and controllable. Mine is NOT modded. These amps can be had for around $500.00 all day long. Excellent value and it can be easily repaired, that is a BIG+...BN

+1 on the Bandmaster. My band's guitarist uses a '65 blackface one, and it's one of the creamiest guitar rigs in town. I've blown my harp on it a time or two, and it makes me wish it was mine. :-)

Rick, with the right speaker it's warm, crunchy, and fat with as much bass as you want. If you want bright, no problem.

If you want smooth or shimmering clean, it will do that. It's very versitile. 1-20 watts, bright switch, tight switch, full tone stack with master, has a pot to go from 6V6 to EL84 or blend the two. I have the head as does Gary.

For guitar, it's my holy grail especially with a Fulltone Fulldrive II

Gary did a demo video of it on Bluesharmonica.com

1847, if you were doing that on the high end of a standard F harp, then I applaud you!

I hate standard F harps! I cringe when a band calls out key of C They make everything sound bright and screechy.

Rick, Gary's video of the Egnater is titled Submission #1
on BH.com. If you click Gary Smith in the left column on the home page after sign in, it will take you there.

It sounds even better than I remember.

B.N. thanks for the tip on the Bandmaster.

I've gotten a lot of mileage from an early '70's Bassman 50 head. I put lower gain tubes in it and it sounds pretty darn good. Fairly common on ebay.

Strange, I love the F maj. That is a fast harp, great for leads. Use the Low F for fills and such...BN
