This is actually a return trip to Memphis for both Nic and Brad. A couple years ago Nic's former band "Another Kind of Magic" made the finals at the Orpheum theater, and Brad's previous band rocked Beale Street in IBC Youth Showcase. They may be 17 and 21 but they are IBC veterans.
I predict they'll come back to Denver with a record deal and some IBC harware.

Rick, did they compete in the adult or youth division? Only asking because my harp protege has a 4-piece he's taking to Memphis for the IBC in the youth division called Young Blood. I believe they're all 17.

That's funny... There is a young blues band in Northern Colorado (some of them as young as 12) who call themselves Youngblood. Pretty good.
Last night Bad Brad and Nic won the big show against the best in Colorado, including Austin Young who has a record deal on the Vizztone label.

OK, I know I'm old, but I hear "Youngblood" and the first thing I think of is that awful Swayze/Lowe hockey movie.
It's funny what the kids don't know.

I hear "Young Blood" and my mind runs to Bruce Willis on The Return of Bruno.
I make it a point to stick that to my friend with the band. :-)

My good buddy Tony Smith won the solo/duo competition at the Suncoast Blues Society IBC in Tampa and is headed to Memphis too.

In 25+ years of living in Memphis, I've never made it to the IBC. Sounds like this might be a great year to go!

Excellent news! It's a very tough competition, but Nic's got some serious throw-down in him and I hope he makes it to the finals. Just making it to the finals would be a huge accomplishment. I'm always amazed by home many great groups and individuals DON'T make it to the finals.

Adam, will you be in Memphis for IBC week?
BTW, Nic Clark made the finals in Memphis two years ago with his previous band out of Cheyenne WY.
Colorado bands have done pretty well in Memphis. Three years ago Lionel Young's band won it all at the IBC. Two years ago The Delta Sonics made it to the 2nd round but missed the finals. Last year Dan Treanor's band made the finals and placed 3rd overall.
