I'm not racist, I have a black friends. That is about as racist as it comes. Don't think so... Ask a sociologist. I am be no means calling you a racist tmf. Don't know anything about you. But most people do not realize just how racist a statement like that is.
Posing for a picture of oneself (being white) with a black man speaks nothing about the nature of ones views on race issues.

Its a fact he and I are friends-not much I can do or say to avoid that-we hit it off in 1993 in NYC and have been good friends ever since-your view is a little slanted-you may need to get that checked yourself
And it stil does not give fred the right to use profanity and resort to "White dick" and the other terms he used.

And I have other friends of all races and nationalities-I will end this by saying someone ,somewhere will always have a condescending view on the race issue-just not me. I get along with all-as long as you show me respect.

No my views are not slanted. My wife is a sociologist. If she had the time or desire to come here an explain just why that is a very racist statement you would understand. Then again you might not... Doesn't matter to me. Nor do I care who your friends are. The statement about posing for a picture was not meant for you. It was generalized.

tmf, I believe you. As stated above I said "I am be (by should have been) no means calling you a racist". And I meant it.
The only schooling I have in that area is from her. She has been a professor for about 20 years She has changed my views on a lot of issues, for the best.
I don't see how or why you would think that I was questioning or judging your friendship with Sugar. You edited your post to add that after the fact. I believe you are being very defensive for no reason. I am done with you.

Calling someone a "turd" is a personal insult and as such is against the forum creed. If that person is of let's say African American origin then I can see how they could construe it as a racist remark. Please realise that I'm not saying it is one. Also saying to someone things like "racist piece of white shit you can kiss my black ass as well. ". Is also a personal insult, a racist remark and is also against the forum creed. I have no respect for anyone who uses this kind of language to each other. It would seem that you're both incapable of having a "grown up" discussion on a forum without letting it fall to this kind of level. If I were a moderator I'd simply ban both of you for making these highly abusive personal comments. Luckily for both of you I'm not a moderator. I'm simply someone who visits this forum.
Tom, no offence but you do seem to often get very heated under the collar very quickly. Maybe you need to look into why that is. Fred, quite often you seem to purposely make comments that are intended to entice people into giving highly negatively charged responses. Now please can't we all just play nice.

I've just taken the fairly unusual step of personally deleting fred_gomez's membership.
Most forum members eventually figure out what the limits are. Fred had no real interest in the give and take of civil society, MBH-style.

I go do other stuff for a few hours and look what I miss. (Sorry boss, I should have checked in sooner given the problems we were having.)
For future reference people, if someone says something to you horrible on here to you and you suspect they will edit it, take a screenshot. We don't have any way to go back and check on things once they've been edited.

I know sometimes I'll post as a knee jerk reaction and with a bit of too much emotion/not enough thought, only to calm down a minute late and regret my choice of words.
At these times, I say thank goodness for editing.

Editing sometimes gives us a false sense of being able to take things back after other people have heard what you have said have responded. It's fine if you are refining your point, or if, after a disastrous rant you edit and apologize. Unfortunately, it can be used also to bait other people and then quickly cover your tracks. That's when capturing it for the record isn't a bad idea.
I'm going to go ahead and lock this one down now. Thanks to everyone who helped towards civility.

I just want to add a stern public warning here, so there will be no doubt about where I stand. The warning is a general blast to all forum members, but it is also a specific warning to tmf14.
The general warning is this: PLEASE, ALL OF YOU, REREAD THE FORUM CREED. Although it proscribes a number of things, one of the most important things it proscribes is racist talk. I don't care what color you are or what race you seek to diminish through your words. Don't do it. This forum isn't a white man's club where casual (or pointed) disrespect for African Americans, individually or collectively, passes muster. Traffic in such stuff and your days here are numbered.
Neither is it a place where anti-white diatribes are welcome. Engage in them and your days here are numbered. This is one reason--but only one reason--why Fred was booted.
My specific warning to tmf14: I have given you the benefit of the doubt in the matter of this thread--in part because you and I have had many barbed exchanges here and I don't want anybody to think I'm coming down hard on you because of that. Still, I don't play favorites. Several forum members have contacted me to note that you gave almost as good as you got from Fred Gomez. So you should consider this your official warning. Please find a way of respecting the forum creed. The next time you violate it, you're out. That would be a shame, given your many important contributions, but again: I don't play favorites.
To all forum members: if you see very bad things, plainly in violation of the forum creed, please take a screen shot and email me. I will act. Thanks.
