Hi guys! I'm not proud of the way I treat my harps, and this video it's a consequence. It was the first gig with my band after summer and I didn't check before my A harp ( I usually let my harps in the garden or in the kitchen, so they deteriorate). In this song the 5 draw blocked 2 or 3 times and the 4 draw sounded very bad. And it's a very bad sensation playing and your harp is not responding well. But I think that the people liked it, so it's not a big drama haha. Hope you like it!
very well done biker harp, you dont eat the vocal mic and feed back. proper half cup nice leaky dylanesque flow of lost air. when you back off you hold your head low you should still blow in the mic but back off and use hand effects stupid hickey doodle style. great job if you made mistakes i didnt hear them. good cover. i do the tweeky high note thing but i try not to sound like a dick a magical dick allah ka wham o jam. good job hold your head high keep not using an amp and a jt30 get a leather vest and some tight pants. the biker chicks love that. if you sang youd be a star. oh and high gap if you blow/draw that hard high gap adds harp life peace!
thanks for your words, but i don't consider myself as biker harp. I know that my playing sounds dirty, but that's the way I want it to sound ( I try to get a James Cotton kind of sound).
In another hand, i love Magic Dick, hope one day my high notes sound like his ones.
I clean them, by mistreating them i mean to don't keep them in their boxes, keeping them in the pockets, keeping them outside etc, and that deteriorates the reeds and the tone.
i thought it was just fine. you've got a good feel for blues harp phasing. i lot of people w/ years of experience don't have the phrasing you posesss. yes, keep it up. ---------- MP affordable reed replacement and repairs.

I think we've all had a harmonica or reed stick or something funky go out in the middle of live playing.
Have had 2 hole inhale stick when auditioning for a blues band.
Have had hole 4 inhale stick while sitting in with a "name" Atlanta female folk/blues singer at a small outdoor festival.
Both times it forced me to think around these OH SO FREQUENTLY USED NOTES in real time. I pulled it off and no one noticed the problems, but was left with a feeling that I could have done better with them. ---------- The Iceman
Sami, I used to carry mine around in a zip lock bag. That bag got a lot of close looks when you set it on a table..LOL.. Buy or make yourself a nice harp case. Tackle boxes work too. Mine is a small suitcase with a top shelf. That shelf has closed cell foam glued to it with cutouts to hold the harps. Under the shelf is a delay pedal, spare harps, mics, cables, tools, paper & pen, batteries, adapters, business cards and guitar pics for my buddies. The thing weighs about 45lbs. That homemade case has gotten me on more stages then you can imagine. When others see that box of harps, they know you are serious. If you are creative, you can scroung build a case for NO money. Do it man, you deserve it. Nice playing...BN
yeah sami vocal mic, test one out get one you like but if you can use the house mic go with that. but when you back off and play fully acoustic so the guitarist can solo hold your head up and look at the crowd through sunglasses if you got em. its great man i dont hear these mistakes your talking about. i use a vocal mic and hold it exactly like you. sorry about the biker harp thing thats what they call guys who dont use jt30s and amps.
Sami, that was good work there. I find that, a lot of times, people don't notice any but the most glaring mistakes or problems. even then they are usually pretty forgiving. It's good to see/hear a guy just step up and get it done well. if you're happy with your harps keep doing what you do. Otherwise cases are easy to come by as is 91% alcohol and lint free cloths. Keep up the good playing. I tip my blues fedora to you! ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene
thanks for the comments guys, I agree with you that having reed stick is a shit, but it's true that normally people don't realize. I normally play with and amp and a JT30, it's an hughes&kettner of transistors, but this time i was playing acoustically but i think it sounded good. I fixed my harmonica and now sounds better. Bye
