I moseyed onto VHT's homepage today, and discovered they have a new pedal that encapsulates not only a full-range reverb effect, but also an enhanced tremolo!
VHT Melo-Verb Pedal

I wrote VHT about it since I couldn't find it on any online retailer, and they said it should be reaching the dealers in the next week or two. They also said MSRP on it would be $159. MF oughta knock that down by a bit....hmmmm... ----------

I know this is from a while ago, but did you ever have any luck with this pedal? I am in the market for a reverb pedal and came across this one on eCrack.. Thinking it might be a good option.. ---------- -LeWin$key

ok, so I have yet to find anyone who has used one of these things with Harmonica, but the reviews that guitar players have been posting make me nervous. I think I am just going to go with the Holy Grail, unless anyone has any other suggestions. I'd like to keep it under a hundred bucks.. ---------- -LeWin$key

I started out with a '76 Fender DR. Loved the reverb, that is till I met delay. I rarely use reverb now even though I have several amps with great reverb. But, I had to learn this on my own and we all have different tastes. I know you are a rookie, all the gear in the world will not make you sound good! When you buy, buy good gear. Practice, play with others, have fun, be patient...BN

I have been playing around with delay and its cool and all, but honestly the slap back thing is kind of annoying to me, and from what I understand about reverb it is more of a natural echo. I think I am looking for more of a "glow" to my notes than a slap back.
I really do appreciate everybody's sentiments about how "all the gear in the world will not make you sound good". Please understand, that to my ears at least, I do sound good. I at least sound good enough to start figuring out how to translate that sound effectively to an amplified system. Please do not take that as me saying I am some hot-shot best player in the world who doesn't need to improve. Obviously everyone can always improve everyday. I am merely stating that I am already happy with how fast my tone and playing has progressed, and my network of friends here in Chicago has just so happened to work out where I already know and interact regularly with top notch, grammy-nominated musicians. I am trying to put myself on the fast track to being able to jam with these guys once I get off house arrest in a month or so.. It is going to be hard to jam with them if I don't know how to play into a mic effectively.
Sorry to rant like that, and that is not directed just at you Barley Nectar, this is just something that has been bothering me since day 1 of joining this forum. Every question that I post, I am met by at least one comment saying to "work on my playing instead of trying to compensate with gear"
I understand that gear is a lot of trial and error, and naturally I am going to make mistakes and buy the wrong things, or things that just don't sound right to me, this is part of the process. I come to all of you to try and make that process a little less painful for me.
I think that anyone who is willing to start taking on the challenges that come with playing amplified harp, both financially and in terms of skill, should be taken seriously. I would not be cashing in my change jar and selling things of mine that I like to pay for music gear if I was not serious about this.
I really do appreciate anyone and everyones input, but can we please just at the very least humor me for a second and pretend that I might just be a guy who knows what he is doing but also has absolutely no idea what he is doing?
Every piece of equipment that I have bought I have found for cheap enough to resell, so its really just a constant revolving door of equipment at my house right now ;) ---------- -LeWin$key

And on a side note, I played in front of real live people for the first time last week, and it ended up being for Joe Filisko and his class of students. Joe says I sounded good. I trust Joe. ---------- -LeWin$key

Hi LeWin$key!
I understand your frustration. When I first started playing more seriously, (Only about 4 years ago maybe) a lack of funds kept me from accumulating the gear that I wanted. Even getting a harp in a new key was (still is!) a big deal. However, that hindrance forced me into a serious study of the instruments acoustic elements and the many techniques and subtle nuances that have made the greats great. I still have a lifetime of learning ahead of me, but that shift in focus has produced results that I will forever be grateful for. Today, I am able to pick up almost any amplified rig at a jam and (usually) make it sound passable (Not always great. I will need much more time with a mic in my hand for that.) And believe me, it's a real rush!
I think that all any member here is trying to say is that energy invested in developing a mastery of the instrument (regardless of the skills you already possess) will take you SO much farther then any piece of gear. Just ask Joe.
As a guy who probably doesn't have much more, if any, harmonica skill then you, I don't mean to offend you in any way. If anything in this post does offend you, please just disregard it and move on. I just wanted to share with you a bit about what my journey has been like thus far and want to wish you the best with yours. I am inspired by your passion for the instrument.
More to the point: I have absolutely no idea what the originally mentioned pedal is like! ;)

lol, Thank you Tom, it is very much appreciated. I am not offended by anything anyone has said, I am actually pretty hard to offend. And to be honest, I have really been buckling down and practicing licks these past few days thanks to both the comments of others, and the fact that I posted that last thing. Sometimes I will post or say something like that just to put pressure on myself to actually do something, haha. After I posted that last message I think I practiced harder than I have in weeks because I was like, oh shit now I actually have to live up to all that stuff I just said, lol. And at the end of the day, even if I end up liking to play through just a mic and an amp then so be it, for me the journey is just as important as the end point.
Now i'm gonna go back to tinkering. Thank you very much for everybody's input, and I truly mean that. I recognize the gems of wisdom in everything that is being told to me, and I hope I did not come off as angry or a jerk or anything.. I might be a jerk, but I definitely was not angry..
Cheers! ---------- -LeWin$key

Good attitude there Mrlewinskey.Pretty much all of us on this forum have probably been where you are now. We all know that gear isn't the meat,it's more like the gravy but hey you have to experiment. A lot of us have found that the'better'we get the less gear we need, but it can be a long road to that situation. No harm in experimenting, well only to your wallet anyways.
