Sad news. A truly great guy in his own homemade little genre. There were a string of records in the early -70´s that stand out in their recumbent brilliance.

Without JJ Cale, there'd be a helluva lot less Eric Clapton in this world, IMHO. May he rest in peace.

Ive lived close to tulsa all my life,And really didnt know about Him and what all he had done, although,Ive heard alot of his stuff but didnt know,Then last year a good friend of mine is real good friends with Rocky Frisco, and they came out to my best friends house and jammed around some,I heard that Rocky is a great piano player that played with J.J. Cale.

well a couple days ago Rocky said on FB,that on his birthday ,his best friend died,J.J. Cale, and i decided to read some up on him,and was like Wow he had done alot in his life time,I had No idea of his influence and the songs he wrote,He definetly made his mark in the music world.
Which now has me more interested in what all the music from the Old Tulsa sound included.R.I.P J.J Cale

My favorite JJ Cale LP was "Troubadour". If starts off with Hey Baby and follows with Travelin' Light, one of my all time favorites.
