Fantastic. Both wonderful in their own ways. I can only imagine what it would have been like to have been sitting there in that studio while it was happening. Thanks for posting.

Pretty good stuff. Would have been much better if Howard wasn't stepping all over his vocals. He's amazing and his vibrato is real nice here, but his playing is not always complimenting the song imho. Maybe if I had those chops I'd have a hard time restraining myself too...idk.

@Swezey8: I sort of agree--although my first impression was that the vocals were lagging so far behind an already laggy guitar (when compared to the original version). The phrasing was very different from Warren's as well.
So I was thinking it was probably more of the case that Howard had the original version's tempo/phrasing in his head, or was expecting that. I got the impression these guys haven't really played together much, and so the chemistry thing wasn't exactly there.

Magoo has been playing his awesome version of this song for years. He was the guitar player in the great Chicago band Hello Dave. I love it that two of my favorite Chicago musicians, from very different musical backgrounds, came together to do this beautiful song.

Levy has been on prairie home companion a lot lately, that style of music really suits him well...

@Swezey8 & FatJesus I am afraid you missed the point of Howard's very sensitive playing completely...

I listened to this on another site. Love Levys playing and Warren Haynes writes great tunes. BUT, i could only handle 2 minutes 8 seconds of this tune. To each his own. :-) ---------- MP affordable reed replacement and repairs.

@harmonicanick: Not looking to pick a fight, but, really?
Because I am afraid I missed your point. Howard's playing IS great. It does not fit with what the guitar/vocals are doing in this version of this song. It would fit very well with the original.
