These custom harmonicas combs have from 100% carbon. Carbon has been successfully used in the production of such musical instruments like violin, guitar.

The problem is more widespread use of carbon fiber in its expensive, violin and guitar relatively expensive are obtained. But for harmonica this problem is practically not, because harmonica has small dimensions, plus we just use the standard carbon leaf, which is a lot cheaper.
WHY CARBON?
The modern carbon is the best material for buildings professional harmonics because he has the best acoustic properties. Carbon is durable hard material and has a good appearance. ACOUSTIC CONSTANT CARBON IS ABOUT 2 TIMES MORE THAN THE RESONANCE OF THE WOOD. Resonant wood dear. It is dried under 20 years, and the cube of the resonance of the wood costs 30...40 thousand dollars. Modulus of elasticity carbon 200 to 400 GPa, density of 1.4...2 g/cm3 (spruce up to 10 GPA, and 0.3 g/cm3, respectively) carbon unlike wood is not afraid of a moisture. Comb we almost floats in the saliva and timber in terms of acoustics, and nothing good happens. To cover it with a protective varnish and lacquer spoils the acoustic properties. There's also such a thing as high module carbon, there are even some samples that have modulus of elasticity 700...800 HPa, it is even more interesting.

I would love to have a set of harps with carbon fiber combs. I have a Trek Y-22 mountain bike that I bought in 1996. I can't tell you how many thousands of miles I have on that thing. Still as good as the day I bought it. Naked carbon fiber is oh so sexy too. Anyone selling SP20 combs made with it? ---------- You Tube = goshinjk

I realized I forgot to mention that the Y-22's main body is made of carbon fiber. It wasn't just an odd rant. My point was the strength and durability of the CF. ---------- You Tube = goshinjk

"Love the comb design and wondering about the effect of the teflon strip on the coverplates" So it is teflon on the cover plates, good to know.
$100 for that harp I think that is a very good price.
SergZZZ please make more of these harps!

Teflon band to better slid her lips. The Teflon bad stick of pollution, it will be perhaps a little more hygienic for the player. ---------- www.ermonica.com
