Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with using a Sano 500R for harp? I did a quick search that had some posts mentioning this amp, but nothing in depth. As far as I can tell, it's 45 watts, with a 15 in. and two 8 in. speakers. The output tubes are 8417s I believe. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is one on ebay. New Mexico. Looks heavy, all ceramic mag speakers.

I know Gary (SJ) was a big fan of the smaller 25R, 35R.
Too risky IMO. Go with something we know is good
e.g., early 90's Bassman

Sorry, I should have mentioned there is one for sale locally, but not close enough to test out at the moment. Any other input would be helpful, thanks!

Only Sano I've seen recently was a little Sano-ette. Those are basically the same amp as a Kalamazoo Model Two.

I had one - or a very similar one for a while last year. They are very cool amps -and generally underpriced IMO. Not really the greatest for harp - though, - if you're looking for easy breakup, compression and sustain.

They do a very beautiful 'Fender Clean' tone for guitar. Lush. As good or better than my Blackface Deluxe Reverb - a classic in it's own right.

The reverb signal is routed to the smaller speaker only. It makes for an interesting and very full sound.

They are hand wired and very well constructed. Downside is their output tubes are -the 8417's. No longer in production and pricey to replace.
they do seem to hold up though.

If you can get it cheap - it's worth the experiment, especially if you also play guitar. There are some fans out there when you want to re-sell.
