Several years ago, my friend Tom Weston brought three amps to a gig I was playing in the Lancaster, PA area. Two of them were Premiers; I ended up buying one. The third was something I'd never seen before--and it had the most amazing sound of all three. I've got a video of the test plus two still captured from earlier in the video. The distinguishing visual feature of the amp is that it had a removable cover that contained the speaker--one 10", as I recall. The thing had so much bottom end that it was almost feeding back at bass frequencies, but it also had a great crispy high end. The more you turned it up, the better it sounded.

Tom, if you read this and you still have the amp, please let the amp guys weigh in with their calls/guesses before you tell us what the amp is.

Looks like some sort of small portable PA. You are right, sounds good.

The pictures are a bit blurry and zoomed way out....but offhand, the amp face looks similar to a Bell Labs Pacemaker. Randy Landry's done work on these...

From the picture you have here Adam, it looks like the layout of components is different from Randy's. Round knobs as opposed to chickenheads on Tom's...etc. So Tom's could be a different Pacemaker model, or maybe someone performed some mods on it...who knows? May not be a Pacemaker at all, but just from what I can discern from your photos and video, it's a distinct possibility.

Yeah I'd agree on the Bell Pacemaker being that amp. Sounds great.

Here's a clip of another PM20 being used with guitar through a 4X12.

Can't seem to find any clips with one being used for harp. Looks like even Randy has yet to post any footage.

Yeah, that's definitely it. Well how do you like that? I'm telling you, this was easily one of the best harp amps I've ever played through. Keep an eye out on eBay!!

Only question now is, what mods, if any, were done to the amp you played through Adam. Do you remember if Tom mentioned whether it was all original or not? If it was, then you bet your sweet bippy I'll keep my eyes peeled for one. But if it WAS by chance modded, knowing what was done would be very handy. Granted, Randy has a very detailed procedure on how to make it harp optimal, but Tom's could've had a completely different workover.

quick question... if that was one of the best sounding harp amps you have ever played through, why did you not buy it instead of the Premier?

He wasn't selling it.

He brought three amps to the gig so that I could borrow one, since I'd flown in. I tried all three out and ended up borrowing one of the Premiers. I now own the other Premier, which he later sold to me. But the better Premier and "that amp" were not and are not for sale.

Adam the amp is a Bell Sound System Inc Pacemaker PM-10 with the speaker. From what I know the amp is stock & I have had it a while. Adam if your interested I would sell you the amp? I did find another one.
Thanks Tom
