If you're coming to the SPAH convention and need to make your hotel reservation, please use the online reservation page:
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/stlsa-renaissance-st-louis-airport-hotel/?toDate=8/18/13&groupCode=socsoca&stop_mobi=yes&fromDate=8/11/13&app=resvlink
If you cal the hotel on the telephone, you're likely to be told that they have no SPAH rooms left, which is not accurate. Why this is happening we don't know, but so far the link above works.
Also, if you're interesting in sharing rooms or rides, check out this board:
http://boards.spah.org
(You could also make share inquiries here and on other harmonica discussion lists.)

Hey, I'm a west coaster as well. I'm not saying it'll never happen. We have one or two leads in progress for a future year and that includes at least one in the west. Won't be 2014; that's in St. Louis. But beyond that, who knows? ---------- Winslow

My understanding is the Sacramento SPAH in 2009 had a very high attendance in relation to previous SPAHs. True?
I attended part time in 2009. Next time, I will try to make it full time. So worth it.

SPAH 2009 was very well attended, and while a lot of the east coast and midwest folks didn't make it, we got a lot of west coast attendance - it was north-south instead of east-west.
You guys don't have to talk me into it. It's just a question of balance among regions and when to do it (and the right resources and venue, etc.). ---------- Winslow

I was able to attend the last day in 2009 since I lived just 15 minutes away. Had dinner at the table right next to Jasons! ---------- Bend it like Ricci - Me

I was trying to get 2 queen beds as well to split a room. Who wouldn't want to save some cash for SPAH shops impulse buying, lol? But I was pretty much told first come first served status on those rooms. 1st year out of 4 I couldn't do this.
I think the last 5 SPAHs have all been in fair places. If you go way west we'll want way east again :) .

I think I get my own room this time-- I shared a room last time with Grant Osborne, a really good North Carolina based pianist who plays diminished chromatic harmonica very well too--I hope to see him in St. Louis. This year promises to be a big party. See you there--I am working the Suzuki booth.

I may take you up on that, groyster. As bad as we both snore, I can't imagine either of us getting any sleep if I have to share a king bed with TJ. :)

Vegas could be interesting. Good air connections and lots of distractions :) But we'd need a *reasonably* priced hotel that is big enough and has the right facilities, and a LOCAL harmonica club on the ground to help us organize. ---------- Winslow

I've got a tip for anyone sharing a room with a snorer. Just put a G harp in their mouth while they are asleep. Play a melody over their chords on a C harp. Post the results.

BUMP - KEEP THIS THREAD WHERE I CAN FIND IT
The Marriott Renaissance says they're full on the 8/14 thru 18 dates I attempted to price. Also, the SPAH rate seems to only apply for a block of 8/11-8/18, $700+(or a used Bassman RI off Craigslist). I wonder if I am screwing it up some way?. Probably.
There are a several other hotels within a cheap cab ride of the place.

If you use the link I posted farther up this thread, you can still get the SPAH $95 rate for the date range of Sunday, August 11 through Saturday, August 17. I just checked (Saturday night, July 5).
Use this phone number if you want to call for reservations:
1-800-468-3571
DO NOT use the local phone number; they won't or can't help you (why, I don't know, but that's how it is). ---------- Winslow
