I came across this today and something about it all seems fishy. Anyways, here is a "Filisko" Custom Harmonica on Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Joe-Filisko-Customized-Hohner-Marine-Band-Harmonica-in-Key-of-G-250-/330945728235?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d0de70eeb
What's strange: 1. Listed by Goodwill (who donates a Filisko harp to GW?) 2. Can't see the reed plates to look for his signature 3. Unsealed comb, original nails, cover plates not open (although it does look pre-war so maybe he treats them different?)
I wasn't planning on bidding, just wanted opinions. Maybe it's the real thing. Or maybe some Goodwill employee noticed Filisko harmonicas selling for a lot of money and figured they could list this as such?

I know Joe has put a few harps out there with nails still intact. David Payne May still sell his that way. But I think you nailed it with your synopsis at the end Swezey 8

Looking at the pics, I doubt it has ever been opened up, it's simply an unmolested pre-war. Might bid on it, I have a number of these pre-wars, like them a lot.

It does look like the covers have been opened up, so it's not just OTB, but it would be nice if it had a little more provenance. ---------- Nate Facebook Thread Organizer (A list of all sorts of useful threads)

The Seller's response to my query regarding just how they determined it was appropriate to use the words "Filisko" and "Customized" in the description:
"When this item was researched prior to listing it was determined that the words "Marine Band" qualified it as a customized instrument as there are others that have different designations on them."

Of course we all realize this to be kinda silly.
With this logic, every harmonica listed on ebay could be called Filisko Customized. ---------- The Iceman

They've now pulled the listing "based on information we have received from you and others".

Many years ago in West Virginia, a Lunar Feline shared his views on harmonicas that weren't assembled with screws by saying, "Nails are for women and drag queens".

I contacted the sellers who were posting the harp. I explained what they had and what a Filisko harp was. He replied and apologized for the error. I suggested they keep the listing but change the text, high 31.00 bid isn't bad for a nice pre-war. They chose to re-list it instead. Nice folk, just uninformed.

I don't think they pulled it. It says it sold for 24 bucks and was still listed as a Joe F. harp. Someone is gonna be disappointed. ---------- Bend it like Ricci - Me
