One of the most distinctive vocalists in the blues, Bland was also a huge influence on several generations of Soul (and Soul-influenced rock) singers.

one of my biggest influences. Bobby was in a class all by himself. Nobody could beat Bobby. RIP.

One of my all time favorite blues vocalists. Right to the end, he still had a larger black audience than a white audience and women used to go totally nuts at his shows.

His version of Stormy Monday, along with the T-Bone Walker original, the one Muddy Waters cut on Live At Mister Kelly's, and the cover done by Roomful of Blues on their first album featuring Duke Robillard are the ONLY versions of that grossly overdone and too often botched up tune that I can listen to and fully enjoy.

Bobby played a smaller but nice club here in the burgh around 15 years ago...We get to the club and and there is a huge nice bus parked right in front of the joint...Got to meet him after the show on his bus through some friends...Great show and that famous "grunt/snort" he interjects while singing is quite musical heard live :)
