Very Nice! There's a few parts in there that I was missing that I'll be able to get right listening to this.

Whenever the Hawk posts a video like this, it reminds me to check out his other videos on You Tube. They give me some great ideas on how to approach certain tunes as well as specific licks to steal...I mean emulate. He's done some instructional videos as well.

Thank you all for you comments!

FMWoodeye: It's always nice to emulate licks. I have emulated Magic Dick's tricks for a while now. I downloaded some of the youtube videos with his versions to my mp3 player and then I listended to them at 0.5X, 0.75X, 0.9X and full speed over and over again. Adam Gussows tutorial vids and his versions was of help too. I tried several hours today but I missed all the time. Then I increased the speed a little and it went OK. I still have some emulating to do. And also to add some of Pat Ramsey's licks from his cool version.

Outstanding.

You got the tone, rhythm, accuracy and spirit of the song.

However, might I suggest one thing to consider....

At about 1 min into it, you do the ascending 2,3,4,5 inhale line. The trill at the end on the original is actually 5,6,5 inhale 5,6,5 exhale and 4,5,4 inhale. In other words, this trill goes up in execution rather than down.

Stupendous. I've wanted to build my chops to play that for 40 years. In fact, listening to "Full House" by J. Geils was my very first introduction to the harmonica.

From one Hawk to another....HOT DAMN! You smashed that sucker outta the park! I may extract the audio from your vid and listen to it. Because no matter how many times I listen to Dick do it, seems like there's just too much going on with the rest of the band to really capture everything Dick is doing. Yours really oughta help me finally get this tune under my belt. Well done Hawk!

It's great to see the response here at Blues Harp Forum and Facebook! It makes me feel good trying this without backing in front of an audience. I just to have to slow it down a little bit and practice some more.

Hakan has a number of YT teaching and demoing videos that I haven't noticed him plugging. Definitely worth a look based on Wammer Jammer.

FMWoodeye...

You need to speed up your listening/comprehension muscles.

Check it out around 1 min 10 seconds...

@Iceman....it was a joke. I certainly would defer to your listening, playing and teaching skills. You might have to defer to my joking skills.

This is awesome! I always have a hard time getting the 10 hole blow bend to stick, but you sound like you could hold it all day.

Iceman: I think I see what you mean. I only go up to 4-5 draw trill. But Magic Dick plays at 5-6 draw. Thanks! It will make me better prepared when I play it live for the first time in two weeks from now. The link you posted from Live-Full House was also very good. I had not heard that before. Very good version. It's not that fast as the other youtube videos I saw. That tempo (Full House)is better for this song I believe.

Hakan...

If you can get ahold of the first J. Geils studio recording that had Whammer Jammer, you will hear it played even slower.
