I've been playing guitar for all of my life. I'm 53 and I've played since I was 10. I was never killer at it but I guess I was better than "average." I worked at it quite hard for several years, was in a few bands...but just decided I'd had enough.
I've got a very solid grounding in theory...and read music VERY slowly....lol.
Well...recently I picked up the harmonica just to have something to do and found that I really like it and enjoy the challenge of improving.
My general music knowledge really helps in some areas of harmonica practice...I have good relative pitch...I can recognize tone intervals up to P5 very well and understand modal theory really well.
Of course my problem is just basic playing...lol...the mechanics of making good noise on this thing. I'm in awe of what I've seen Adam do...(and others.)
I know how long it took me to "not suck" on guitar, and that depresses me... :)
Ok...long winded way to get to my point. I didn't ever take a guitar lesson, and now I'd like to rectify that mistake with the harmonica.
Are there any harp players in the North Central West Virginia area that would like to give a lesson or two to a noob?

If you find them, let me know.
I've been trying for years to get us WV harpers together :)
We are down here in Huntington, about 3 or 4 hours from you. If you ever make it our way, let me know in advance.
WVTom is up your way, but I don't know if he's to the teaching phase yet.

I know one. I can't remember his name. He is on the WVangler forum. Ask it there and you'll find some. You're talking about where? Weston? Glenville? Clarksburg? Nate there is a big difference between Northwest Central Virginia and North Central West Virginia. ;)
West Virginia's 150th birthday is tomorrow.

Hello, rpavich. Happy WV Day! I'm about 20 miles north of you in Fairmont. I've been playing for about 4 years, so I'm not too far ahead of you in terms of harp development.
As Iceman stated, there is an annual gold mine for harp instruction in Elkins at the Augusta Heritage Center at D&E College. This year it will be July 14-20. You should check it out. I will be there and would be happy to hook up with you. Tom ---------- WVTom's YouTube Channel
