Regarding the typical 5/8" screw-on to 1/4" female adapter that we've all come to know and love...the only slight beef I'm finding with them is that they don't hold the 1/4" male plug very snugly. I'm considering getting a small wireless guitar set, the transmitter of which simply has a 1/4" male barrel protruding out of the end. Is there a way to tighten the Switchcraft adapter up so that if I were to simply plug the transmitter directly into my JT30, it wouldn't run the risk of falling out?

You could drill and thread a screw into the side of the 1/4 inch female adapter and secure it that way. If you used a wing bolt it would be easy to release.

I had the same problem with that Switchcraft adapter: handling noise after it gets used a bit. I don't know of a way to fix the problem except buy a new one. I never use them any more.

I had a Line 6 digitial wireless that had a small body pack instead of a bug. I had a short 3.5 foot cable with the screw-on connector on one end and a 1/4 phono plug on the other. Worked great. (traded it all for my Premier Twin 8 amp)

Like Greg Heumann, I use the screw on cables all the time and keep a 332A adapter in the bag just in case the lead goes down. I've been using those cables for at least fifteen years and have never had any problems with them. In my opinion they are the best way to go. You just have to make sure not to step on your cable. I just throw my lead over my shoulder.

You could eliminate the adaptor all together and just use a cable made for the 2501MP. There is a few guys out there that make quality cables like Greg Heumann

I use the cables from Frank Blues on ebay out of Italy.
(no affliation)
They make their own female connecter that's actually crimped on the cable, not soldered. I've had two for close to three years, and never had an issue.

From my experience the soldered type will give out eventually no matter how much heat shrink you use.
It's just not a great design.

If you find someone that makes a quality cable and will warranty it for a reasonable period of time, you could go that route.
