Good news, everybody: Jeff Silverman and I spoke this morning and we are both 100% committed to holding Hill Country Harmonica in 2014. In fact, Jeff spoke with Bill Hollowell and we have reserved Memorial Day weekend--May 24-25, 2014--for the event. This is one week later than we've done it in the past; having Monday as a holiday will make it somewhat more convenient for many folks, since, as you know, HCH always ends in the wee hours of Sunday night. The late May date risks a slightly warmer event, but then--well, if you're afraid of the Mississippi heat, you really shouldn't be playing the blues. :)

Consider this an official save-the-date announcement. It is no more than that. Jeff and I won't reconvene the conversation and won't even begin to think about who to book for the event until late August.

Y'all are free to offer suggestions, of course. I will probably see them but won't comment on them for now.

Edited to add: This thread is NOT the place for comments, gripes, etc., about Harmonica411, HarpMart, or any of Jeff's other harmonica-related business enterprises. Please confine such comments (if you feel the need to make them) to other threads. They have absolutely no bearing on HCH and my partnership with Jeff on this event. Thanks.

I'm going to make my best effort to be able to make it this time. I travel about as well as China, but I'm going to make it a goal to have my body and soul in shape for it. :)

I just had a brilliant idea! I'm always worried about sharing a room with someone because I'm a snorer, but if I wear a harp rack...!!!! Brilliant! And I can practice while I sleep!

(I may try a tent.)

While there has been some discussion elsewhere that this might not be a good weekend due to graduation /family functions, I think that is a great pick.....Some folks will now not have to rush back home (having Monday off). I'm already makin' plans. One thought......those who want to stay at Wall -Doxey might want to reserve well in advance, as this weekend is generally a popular one for the parks !

hope to see you all there.
