Here are a few pics of my latest Custom Chromatic. It's a Toot's Mellow Tone w/ Powder Coated Covers & Mouthpiece, Ultra-Suede Valves, and Original Pearwood Comb painted Jet Black. It plays just as good as it looks!!!!

Hey Adam, Pretty cool stuff. Are those old reeds at the top of the wind savers? Do they function as contrapellis?
Like the ultra-suede. Nice ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

Those are the contrapellis. This was before I trimmed them down. I cut them all the same length before I glue them on, then cut and shape them after they are attached. ---------- C. Adam Hamil HOHNER CERTIFIED Free Reed Instrument Technician

Hey, thats a new word for me! I cant find a definition or translation but I think I could use it in a sentence."The contrapellis stiffen the valve and stabilize its motion" I'm guessing this is accordian terminology, although ,,,I could be all wrong. Could you define this term and its usage please? Thats a very nice looking harmonica!!. I am curious as to how the powder coating holds up to normal playing wear.

A "Contrapelli" is a small piece of metal that is attatched to the valve. It's purpose is to ensure that the valve returns to it's original position when not being played. They are critical in the performance of longer suede valves.
@Silvertone I would have never heard this word if it were not for my extensive experience with Italian Acoordions. It's an Italian word.
As far as the powder coating holding up, I've never had a problem with any of the powder coated parts I've used in the past.

Thanks MP! Email me or message me on Facebook if you need anything.
The Mellow Tone is just that, MELLOOOOOW. Still has a very fat tone, just not as "bitey" and "bright" as the Hard Bopper. And with the Ultra-suede valves, it's even more mellow than normal. After embossing the slots, chamfering and arching the reeds, and sealing all the reed chambers with wax, this thing responds like no body's business!!!

Sure Adam! i certainly would like one. i HATE working on Chromatics. my only 12 holer is an ancient 270 w/ the star of david on the back. came in a cardboard box. it plays beautifully but doesn't quite have the big round fullness of my 64. i'd love a smaller chro for gigs and it appears (aside from the CBH) that the toots models were a high point for Hohner. ---------- MP affordable reed replacement and repairs.
