Thanks for any help. I don't know if my mic is set to Hi or Low. And if Low, how to switch these wires to Hi.

Sorry. I guess that I don't know how to embed pictures.

That appears to be low Z wiring. But your mic could have a transformer in it boosting it to high Z XLR.

Can't tell anything from that photo for sure. First, you have a mic that used to have a different, probably 3 or 4 pin female connector and has been modified to what appears to be a 3-pin XLR male. Second, green and red are not a normal color combination. On Shure and many other mics, red and blue would be the low impedance pair, while white and black would be the high impedance pair.

The only clue is that all 3 pins of the XLR connector are in use, which would SUGGEST low impedance. IF that is the case, then the signal should appear on pins 2 and 3, with pin 1 being ground, connected to the cable's shield. This is NOT a safe assumption given that someone rewired the mic - but if they knew what they were doing this would be the case. The only way to know for sure is to identify how this wiring relates to the internal transformer.

Greg, What do you suggest that I do. Put it back together and leave it alone or send it to someone to look into it?

Hondo - I'd send it to Greg and have him go over it and fit a screw on connector whilst he's at it, if I were you. If it is Low-Z then Greg could probably turn it into Hi-Z for you as well. His work is top notch and his prices are very reasonable too.

That's the answer that I was hoping for. Maybe Greg will chime in and have some interest in doing it.

Hondo - Just send Greg an email direct and ask him. I'm sure he'll take the job on.
