Very good. I saw Neil in the late 80s "Don't tell me to hurry up. I've been doing this too long to hurry". Half the audience walked out of that show, just as it was getting good. They said he was too loud, and they really wanted him to just play songs from harvest to comes a time. He did 30 minutes alone and acoustic, then brought the band on. ----------
Just watching this I assumed he was high as a kite, but after he started playing I decided he was just goofy. Neil is one of those guys better known for his songs and guitar playing than his harp skills. Not a big fan of his harp playing, but I will say he sounded ok here and the harp did sound right for the tune. With some guys, they just hit on part of a chord or 2 and move on, I can at least recognize a tune here. I really liked NY's early songs but somewhere along the line he changed! A friend commented once "When did Neil Young get so bad!?" I have to admit I agreed with him.

I think the harp in this song is iconic, and pretty much perfect for the tune. It's not complex, and relatively easy to learn to copy, but it's very original and has the songwriter's brand all over it.
his harmonica on this tune is absolutely perfect. billy joel is another guy whose harp work is not stellar but absolutely perfect or his tunes. piano man is a good example. ---------- MP affordable reed replacement and repairs.
