I find that having the right kind of spittle helps heaps in my playing. I make sure at a gig that I drink something like a lemon squash ( as well as beer ) because it gives me the mouth lubricant I'm after. If I don't have this, I can't get those staccato/ guttural sounds I'm sometimes looking for. Not always appropriate, but when used, sound great. Also, it helps to keep my lips lubricated which can be a problem if drinking alcohol.

Plenty of H2O with a little beer, but I find I'm often going to the men's room........ ---------- One of Rubes's bands, DadsinSpace-MySpace Old Man Rubes at Reverbnation

Milk can give you some nice phlegm. If you want to go the other direction, water with lemon will give you a nice clean mouth.

As for spittle - Sometimes I don't have enough. Sometimes I have too much. And sometimes I don't notice, so it must be just right. All I know is that the one time my mouth will go bone dry is the time I forget to bring a bottle of water on stage. ---------- ---------- /Greg
