I'm trying to find MB 1896 replacement reed plates (Key of C) and I'm surprised that I'm not finding anything out there. I checked BlueMoon as well as Rockin Rons. A google search brought me back nothing as well.
Any ideas?

jay - At one point I was swimming with MB reed plates. I have gotten out of the refurbished harps business except for vintage pre-wars. If you are interested in a set of pre-war plates, I could hook you up. C is easily the most common key so I have quite a few of them. If you want something else, I would suggest you contact Mike Peace. I sent all my unsold reed plates to him a couple of months ago. mmpeace@cox.net ---------- Tom Halchak www.BlueMoonHarmonicas.com

In the USA, go to this link:

BTW, for those who have MS harps, when buying directly from Hohner, for many years, the only replacement plates available were the Cross Harp plates (which were better reed plates that had a thicker reed plate but NOT thicker reeds), now you can get the original stock reed replacements for the BR/Pro Harp/Blues Harp now. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Hohner doesn't sell 1896 reed plates here in the U.S. Selling individual reed plate sets is an incredible amount of work, especially if the manufacturer doesn't package them. There is simply no way to be profitable as eventually our friend Wilbur from Washington will conclude it is cheaper to buy the new harp from our friends at Amazon. Of course he will do that after four phone calls and 6 emails to the friendly harp guy who patiently explains to him how to remove the nails on his MB and install screws so that he can make an $18 sale from his inventory of 1896 plates. Fortunately, MBH member and friend Mark Prados has stepped up and his individual reed replacement deal is as good a value as anything harp related out there.
Kudos to Hohner for selling MS plates, as well as Seydel and LO who do package replacement reed plates and at great prices.

@GMaj7
Yeah...kudos to Hohner for selling MS plates. Just wish a set of MS plates didn't cost more than an actual MS harp. ----------
