Nice! That Turner looks like the work of Mr. Microphone if my eyes serve me right.

I alternate between a few different ones. Mainly....

Peavey H5-C

Rodded Astatic JT30RH with an MC-564-1 in it

And my modded Akai DM13, which is probably my most ballsy mic.

Getting ready to start on my own first mic with the W.E. telephone element I scored two weeks ago.

What type of volume control is that on the Akai? I would like to ad one to mine.

Pretty positive it's one of these...

Not for sure though. You'd have to ask Technobird. He's the one who did the mods for me.

Greg Heumann makes the cool volume control specific for harp mics, used by legions of ace players. A bargain at $64.95.

Shown here with my 1959 Shure 440SL Silver Bullet

The Calrad mic belongs to a woman named Ginny. I tried it at the jam... It sounded good. The only mic I had to compare it to was the 440SL. The Calrad mic is a little less hot and a little less grind. It has a nice low end, is not peaky. I liked the tone. The small size would be an issue over the long run for me: Kind of uncomfortable to grip... I have large mitts.

I didn't try Nic's Turner mic, but when he played it through my Bassman I thought it sounded a lot like the Shure.

@Rick

I agree, Greg's vc is supreme. But a DM13 would be an awkward mic to use one on. In it's stock form, a DM13 has a 6 foot 1/4" cable directly wired into the butt of the mic. I had Dave replace it with a 1/4" jack, which wouldn't work too well with Greg's inline. Really, the only connection that might work well on it would be a 5/8" screw on. But even then, that's gonna be a LONG mic to play harp on. That's why I opted for an integrated vc.
