My Girlfriend was listening to the radio and this song was playing. It caught my attention and I taught of what you guys might think of it.

C2C samples incredibly well. They've got loads of fantastic songs (although this might be the only one featuring harp)

The music is somewhat tiresome in its fragmentation, as if it doesn´t dare to go anywhere. But the harmonica is just right.

Loved everything apart from the excessive scratching.

I don't know why, but if a song can't be played live, it turns me off and the scratching screws the vocals and the harp.

Although it hasn't put me off enough to put this track on a playlist. It's still very cool.

Edit: My bad. scratching is what C2C do.

Yeah, I like it too (it was on some commercial a few months back), but it's the only song like this in C2C's repertoire. Their a French outfit, and they only do this kind of sampled remix thing, and they cut and play everything "by hand" (e.g., no sequencers), which is cool. I generally like this sort of music, but I couldn't really get on board with the rest of C2C's catalog... If you like this, check out Kid Koala's 12-bit blues:

I posted the clip out of curiosity and because I was surprised to hear harp in that kind of music. I can't say that I really like it but for something that plays on mainstream radio it's good, I never listen to the radio.

Isaac that song is really great. Ninjatune have some good musician signed. I used to listen a lot to Amon Tobin.

Guy in the same outfit I work for knows I practice harp and played Down the Road for me off his iPhone. Overall, not impressed as music, but I rather liked the harp tone which I described as 'old Victrola'.

I'd like to be able to dial in that tone sometime. Anybody got an idea how it's done? It sounds more like some kind of effects pedal than embouchure and breath.

hmmm, reminds me of a sound man that can't leave a good band alone. Plays the board like it is an instrument.
Irritating.

I don't know if you guys are aware, but all the scratching on that song can be and is done live. All of their songs can be reproduced live. Just trying to clear up a few misconceptions. They've won loads of international scratching and djing awards both as a team and as individuals -- so yes, they do play their equipment like instruments.

Pretty cool - Sounds like R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough influenced...
