When playing melodies I have as a rule selected an acoustic option for my harmonica. Here are two songs where I have gone down the amped route. I think it works ok and anyway a change is as good as a rest:)
For some reason youtube have placed an advert at the start of the second song. I don’t know why this is as I haven’t chosen to monetise my videos?? :)Edit, didn't show the ad this time:)
Nice work Grey Owl. I find that with my gear I try to amp my harp at minimal volume and through the air capture it with my Blue Yeti condenser mic. Without amping my yeti causes the harp to sound too shrill but has exact opposite effect with vocals.
Re ads I copped them on both for 'Free Harmonica Lessons'. ---------- HARPOLDIE’S YOUTUBE
Thanks Tooka, Aussie. I think you are right about the embed cancelling the ad. When it appears it is around 15 seconds long before the actual vid starts with no skip ad after 5 seconds facility.
What amp did you use Owl and how long does it on average take you to learn a song...Nice playing indeed :)

I'm using a small Vox DA5 5 watt practice amp line out into my pc line in.
If I know the tune I can sort the notes out pretty quick as long as it's in 2nd position :) and get ready to record in a couple of days. If all goes well I might get it recorded 1st couple of takes but not always.
Sometimes I will deliberately start a recording not completely prepared and work through playing issues/improv as I'm recording, then press re-record and start over again etc.,until I'm reasonably happy.
This approach helps me to focus on what I'm doing (and less on the 'cameras rolling must get it right syndrome') and diminishes the feeling of a 'rabbit caught in headlight' when the camera re-rolls:) ---------- My MBH Profile Grey Owl YouTube Grey Owl Abstract Photos Website

I like your tone and vibrato on Feeling Good. There's room for more vibrato... Your intonation on draw 2 'n 3 is good and steady ... ---------- The tone, the tone ... and the Tone
