Good morning from the centipede saloon deep in the musty corners of an unknown basement...Sincerely nice of ya'll to take a quick listen and comment, thank you... Greg's wooden mics are very comfortable to hold and make it desirable to want to manipulate the tone since the mic is small enough to kinda have your way with it...All the accolades about his mics are factual - I'm well pleased with my purchase :)
@Jinx - I only buy legally harvested wood - although the laws are sometimes unclear. I buy the majority of my wood from a company called Woodcraft. Here is their statement:
"Woodcraft Supply Corp is concerned about using our natural resources wisely. We have committed to only using reputable, well established importers. We have found these types of businesses to have considerable assets at stake, which makes them more adverse to risk taking ventures that could be illegal or unethical. There is current legislation that has been enacted into law that requires the Department of Agriculture to work with Customs and Border Patrol to document genus, species and country of harvest for any article imported that contains wood. We will work with all of our suppliers to assure compliance as this new law becomes a reality.
We have vetted many of the certification programs and have not found a viable option for our type of business. FSC, Smartwood and IFC may offer solutions for large scale lumber operations that supply material for building supplies and other uses, but fall short for many of the exotics wood species. Large scale commercial logging of once popular but stressed species such as Genuine mahogany has been rolled back and tightly regulated for some time. Existing logging operations still have an impact but are shadowed by slash and burn practices for agriculture, road building and mining. Many of the species that we carry really have no large scale commercial appeal, but are of great interest to turners and other small project builders. We see an opportunity in responsibly retailing these types of species without creating any significant ecological impact. We continue to scrutinize our practices and suppliers to insure that our actions are responsible and promote the sustainable harvest of our treasured natural resources."
