I've shared on the forum before that I was in my first band last year and got axed. After the grieving period I came up with the idea to start my own band. Since I don't sing, my idea was to find a guitarist, bassist, and drummer that all sing. They could share the singing duties equally, and I could play the harp, do all the talking, and front the band. We all have input musically but I handle all the business, booking, and promotion. I am 51 and was lucky enough to find 3 twenty-somethings that were tickled to death just to rehearse and show up at gigs. My next thought was to find a mix of songs that would allow us to play blues events, rock events, community events, bike rallys, dance clubs, the local marinas, and restaurants/bars. We call what we do the Rockin Boogie Blues and play everything from Muddy to Sanatana to Aretha to Delbert to The Doors to ZZ to Wolf to Georgia Satalites to SRV to Cash to Cray to Clapton to Benoit to Hendrix to Elvis to Thorogood. I had to go outside of my 2nd position 12 bar blues box to pull it off. Took a LOT of work but I found places for 1,2,3 and 5th positions, learned horn parts, learned organ parts, and tried to add something good to all the tunes. So far, so good. We have over 20 shows booked thru the end of the year and the fan base is building. If you can't sing or find work as a side man give it a shot. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. HUGE thanks to all the forum members that helped me with gear, technique, etc..etc.. The first song is my bassist and the second is my drummer.

Sounds like a good time party band to me Duane. I'd pop a cold beer at your gig and I don't even drink - good job! I'd like to hear one of your J. Cash covers :)

THanks guys! Walter you are correct about the drummer. Other bands are trying to steal him. The only Cash we do is Folsom and there is an older gentleman that shows up once in a while and steals the show singing Hurt.

Not only can my drummer play...he did the artwork as well. These kids are so good. The big kid on bass is only 21. Thanks Bronze. I'm not totally happy with everything about the recordings because we laid down 7 tracks in 3 1/2 hours. Hey..we were on a blues budget..lol
